Best known for his work on popular shows like Yellowstone and Landman, Taylor Sheridan recently served as a producer on a forgotten neo-Western thriller that has resurfaced as a massive streaming success. The Sheridan-produced Finestkind stars Tommy Lee Jones (No Country for Old Men) and Jenna Ortega (Scream) alongside The Rings of Power veteran Ismael Cruz Cordova, and it follows a crew of fishermen who tread dangerous waters when their debts start piling up. Finestkind is streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in both America and globally, where it’s returned to the top 10 in several countries, including Italy and Australia.

Finestkind was panned by both critics and audiences alike, leading to scores of 28% from the former and only 59% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. The film was released straight to streaming on Paramount+ a few years ago, so it did not return any box office earnings, but it continues to prove its worth to Paramount as a streaming hit. When Finestkind was first announced, it was reported that Jake Gyllenhaal and Zendaya would star in the film. They later had to drop out after the project was stuck in development limbo, which led to Ben Foster and Jenna Ortega earning the roles.

Finestkind is the last movie that earned Taylor Sheridan a producing credit, but movies were actually what made the Yellowstone writer such a famous scribe. He made his feature writing debut in 2015 on Sicario, and he’s also worked on other films like Wind River and Hell or High Water, which were both successful by nearly every metric. Sheridan will take a brief break from his TV empire next year to return to the world of filmmaking with his next action movie, F.A.S.T.

When Does Taylor Sheridan’s Next Movie Come Out?

Taylor Sheridan’s F.A.S.T. will be released exclusively in theaters on April 23, 2027. Sheridan has recruited his long-time 1923 leading man, Brandon Sklenar, to star in the film, along with other stars such as Sam Claflin, LaKeith Stanfield, and Jason Clarke. Sheridan wrote the script for F.A.S.T., and Ben Richardson is directing the film. Richardson has worked with Sheridan as a director and cinematographer on other projects in the past, including 1883 and Yellowstone. Sheridan is also writing a Call of Duty movie for Paramount with Peter Berg directing.
