It’s been a busy year behind the scenes for Taylor Sheridan so far as he continues shooting the third and possibly final season of his hit spy thriller, Lioness. The larger-than-life Western scribe is also due to begin filming the highly anticipated third season of Landman soon, and he’s also managing writing new seasons of Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown while wrangling new releases such as Marshals and The Madison. While Sheridan has developed a reputation as a legendary TV scribe, those who have been following his career for a while know that he kicked things off by writing legendary neo-Western thrillers like Sicario (Josh Brolin), Wind River (Elizabeth Olsen), and Hell or High Water (Jeff Bridges), but only one was deemed worthy of a sequel.
In 2018, three years after the premiere of Sicario, Sheridan wrote the sequel to the neo-Western thrill-ride, Sicario: Day of the Soldado. The film only returned original stars Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro, but it did add The Last of Us and Superman veteran Isabela Merced to its cast — it’s still one of Merced’s most notable roles to this day. The film earned worse scores of 62% from critics and 66% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but it still performed moderately well at the box office, grossing $75 million globally against a $35 million budget. Sicario: Day of the Soldado is streaming on Netflix in various territories, where it’s crept back into the top 10 nearly 10 years removed from its initial release. Sheridan never wanted to make the sequel to Sicario, but he only did so when pressured by the studio after the first film did so well.
Is Taylor Sheridan Making a New ‘Yellowstone’ Show?

Sheridan will next release Marshals, first on CBS and then on Paramount+ on March 1. The show follows Kaycee Dutton (Luke Grimes) now that he’s left the Yellowstone ranch behind. Sheridan will once again return to the world of Yellowstone a few weeks later with The Madison, starring Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer. The show is set in the same world as Yellowstone, but follows a different family.
