France TV Distribution has boarded François Busnel’s “The Wild Between Us,” a survival drama starring Andreas Pietschmann (“Nuremberg,” “Dark”), in the run up to the European Film Market in Berlin.

Set in the wilderness, “The Wild Between Us” follows Liam (Pietschmann) and Ava, who live far from civilization with their young son Aru. When Liam returns from a hunting trip to discover signs of a bear, and the lifeless body of his wife, he is left alone with his child. Convinced that the wild is no place for a boy, Liam embarks on a perilous horseback journey to find someone he can trust with Aru’s future. As father and son venture deeper into the wilderness, their journey becomes a meditation on grief, survival and the meaning of paternal instinct. César Richier Le Moan, Marie-Sophie Ferdane, Denis O’Hare and Genc Jakupi complete the cast.

Busnel co-wrote the screenplay with Delphine de Vigan, adapting the novel of the same name “On était des loups” by Sandrine Collette, published by Éditions Jean-Claude Lattès.

Produced by Windy Production and Rosebud Films, “The Wild Between Us” is set for theatrical release in France via Nour Films.

Alexandre René, VP of international cinema sales at France TV Distribution and Julia Schulte, SVP of international sales, the film is “an intimate journey through the wide open spaces, where a fractured father-son bond is transformed by survival and grief.”

“Andreas Pietschmann, recently seen in Nuremberg, delivers a powerful and intense performance
as the father,” the pair continued. The film will be introduced to buyers by France TV distribution at the market.
