EXCLUSIVE: The Harry Potter series of audiobooks has launched on Spotify. The Stephen Fry-narrated audiobooks rolled out on Spotify Premium in the U.S. and Canada, the UK, the rest of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand on July 1. The Jim Dale-narrated audiobooks are also available in North America.

The audiobooks narrated by Fry and Dale are beloved by fans. This marks the first time they have been available on Spotify, which has inked a deal with Pottermore Publishing. The audiobook versions of J.K. Rowling’s classic seven-book series were first published in 1999. In terms of streaming, they have been on Audible since 2015, racking up over 1.8 billion listening hours.

Spotify has also added companion titles in the launch markets, including The Tales of Beedle the Bard, narrated by a starry cast featuring Jude Law, Noma Dumezweni and Bonnie Wright; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, narrated by Eddie Redmayne; and Quidditch Through the Ages, narrated by Andrew Lincoln.

“This is an iconic series of books, narrated by two legends, and loved by generations of fans around the world,” said Duncan Bruce, Director of Partnerships and Licensing at Spotify. “We are delighted that these books are now available to an even wider audience on Spotify, as we continue to connect readers and fandoms with stories they love, and bring more books to more people.

“Combined with the companion titles, movie soundtracks and podcasts, Spotify is the best place to get completely immersed in the wizarding world.”

Harry Potter remains hot property in audiobooks. Audible recently launched a new full-cast audio adaptation of the series featuring an A-list ensemble, rather than a single narrator. Meanwhile, fans are on tenterhooks ahead of HBO’s Harry Potter television series.
