A new Resident Evil-inspired horror game has just arrived on Steam, and it has mustered up 98% positive reviews from its users. Capcom’s survival horror series is about to see the release of the ninth core entry in the series (not considering spin-offs and other smaller titles), but it has been inspiring the industry for decades. For example, you can check out a remarkable puzzle horror game inspired by Resident Evil called Lorelei and the Laser Eyes.

Of course, this is not the only title touched by the game created by Tokuro Fujiwara and Shinji Mikami. Now, a new contender has entered the fray on Steam. SCP - Containment Breach is a new first-person horror adventure game that is clearly inspired by Resident Evil in more ways than one. The game was released on Steam on February 20 and has already satisfied hundreds of players.

Steam's New Free Horror Has Real Resident Evil Vibes

Use The Containment Facility To Your Favor

As was mentioned, SCP - Containment Breach is a first-person horror adventure game, and you won’t be using resources to fight off monsters like you do with the infected in Resident Evil, but the vibes are still there. In this procedural game where you’re stalked by some terrifying creatures, you’ll need to explore and find the tools to help you escape a containment facility.

You’ll use key cards to unlock new passages and lock monsters behind them, for instance, and traverse through a dark and gritty environment as you try to survive. Meanwhile, you’ll also learn about what happened inside the containment facility, somewhat like you do when reading notes in Resident Evil.

Aside from the inspirations from the Capcom games, SCP - Containment Breach also has some unique mechanics, starting with the procedurally generated maps, which increase the replayability factor. Moreover, the indie horror game on Steam has a blinking mechanic, which makes the playable character blink and, with it, somewhat fast-forward time – and this could be fatal depending on when you blink.

SCP - Containment Breach Is Available Now

The Horror Game Is 100% Free

SCP - Containment Breach is a free-to-play game on Steam, meaning that it isn’t being offered at a 100% discount, but it is free in its very nature. All you have to do is head over to its product page on the platform and add the game to your library. Once that’s done, the game is permanently yours, and you can download and play it at any time with your account.

At the time of writing, SCP - Containment Breach has 98% positive reviews from its players on the platform, showing just how much they’ve enjoyed the experience. If you’re a fan of horror games that feel like Resident Evil, you should consider checking out SCP - Containment Breach for free on Steam.
