It's really easy to find games on Steam. At this point, there are thousands of curated lists, allowing anyone to match their tastes with others and find a new favorite game. Or, you can rely on searching for games that are similar to others, especially blockbuster AAA titles that you may have enjoyed in the past. There's usually a cottage industry of indies waiting around the corner.
RPG fans are always eating well, as it's one of the most popular genres on Steam. Whether it's visual novels or fully-fledged open-world action games, there's something for everyone. Of course, a rare game can combine multiple elements and pull it off.
In this case, you can grab a game off Steam for free that's part Cyberpunk 2077, part Genshin Impact. The combination sounds odd on paper, but there's a big reason why it works so well.
Newly listed on Steam, Zenless Zone Zero is coming to the platform, following its launch through the publisher's launcher. Released in 2024 on PC, mobile, and PS5, Zenless Zone Zero is another game from miHoYo, who crafted Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. Rather than the fantasy and sci-fi settings of those prior games, respectively, Zenless Zone Zero instead favors a city-like atmosphere, where players delve through dimensional rifts.
Here's a quick rundown: "Zenless Zone Zero is HoYoverse’s brand-new urban fantasy ARPG. Players act as 'Proxies' who explore Hollows alongside a wide range of unique Agents, fighting enemies, and completing commissions on their journey to unveil the mysteries behind New Eridu."
Having played it extensively since launch, it's pretty easy to get into, and it has an extensive storyline to play through, even if you ignore all the game's gacha elements. The character designs are extremely out-there at times, and it's fun to see where the story goes and who you'll meet. Combat can feel repetitive, but you can really get into the flow of it, especially if you opt to use different characters and come up with new playstyles.
For a free game on Steam, it's not a bad way to spend a weekend. If you're an existing player and prefer to play on Steam, you can import everything by logging into your miHoYo account.
Even if you're not a fan of Zenless Zone Zero already, it could be worth checking out on Steam for the convenience of the platform. Plus, if you're picking it up, you'll be able to use the second-generation Steam Controller with it.
Zenless Zone Zero is slated to arrive in the second quarter of 2026 on Steam. Given how we're smack-dab in the middle of it now, it shouldn't be long.
