Steam users have so many awesome games to check out that it's often hard to keep track of what to play next, especially when free offers are popping up constantly throughout the week. You might have missed it, but for the next 72 hours, you can try out one of the most underrated hidden gems of 2024 entirely for free.
Sker Ritual is a 2024 survival FPS from Wales Interactive that is one of the best round-based zombie games nobody talks about, and it's available to play completely free until February 5 at 1:00PM EST on Steam.
Sker Ritual Is Free On Steam Now
It's A Round-Based Zombie Survival You Don't Want To Skip
Sker Ritual is "an intense round-based zombie survival FPS" that you can play either solo or in co-op mode with up to four other players, and it's available to play for free on Steam now. The game is described as an "old-school" FPS game that serves as a spin-off to the "award-winning British indie horror game" Maid of Sker.
Set in 1914 on Sker Island under the rule of the tyrant conqueror Elisabeth Williams, players join her daughter Arianwen on a "mission to thwart the broadcast and save the world from descending into hell." Players will "shoot your way through relentless waves" of Quiet Ones, the game's version of zombies, and upgrade steampunk-style weapons, utilize powers inspired by the Celtic Gods, and more.
Fans of the original Maid of Sker can expect a much different experience with far more intense combat, however, as the original was more of a slow burner. Maid of Sker was released in 2020 by Wales Interactive and currently has a 9/10 rating on Steam, while Sker Island also comes highly recommended among users.
Steam user puke, for example, describes Sker Ritual as a "COD Zombies overhaul, its also like a perfect mix of WW2 and Cold War," while Diesel describes the experience "like CoD Zombies meets KillingFloor 2 meets Left 4 Dead 2." They go on to say it has an "Interesting Story line, very cool monster design, smooth gun play, [and] very well-designed maps."
Its Price Is Also Massively Reduced
Currently, players can try out Sker Ritual for free for the next 72 hours, with the offer ending on Thursday, February 5 at 1:00PM EST. That said, the game includes a free demo that is available at all times, and it's also available at a major discount if you're interested in purchasing the full version and continue playing after Thursday.
Steam has Sker Ritual promoted at 65% off its original listing price, and players can buy it for under $10 before Thursday as well if you end up enjoying it. Sker Ritual is a hidden gem that fans of Call of Duty Zombies and other survival-style zombie games will definitely want to check out while it's free on Steam.
