Steam is home to thousands of free games and is constantly updating their library of titles with new games every week. If you're a fan of massive open-world RPGs and are looking for a great new game to try for free, there's a great new release on Steam you can check out now.
From now until next week, Steam users can officially download and play Age of Water for free, a massive post-apocalyptic open-world role-playing game where you take on the role of a pirate sea captain. It's a limited-time free offer that expires next Monday, March 2, 2026, after which the game will be discounted at 60% off.
Steam Gamers Can Grab A New Freebie
Age of Water is a post-apocalyptic pirate game that lets players explore the high seas in a massive open-world RPG, and features both PvE and PvP gameplay, ship-building and crafting mechanics, and simulation elements as well. It was first released on all platforms in January 2025, and has since garnered a bit of a cult following among players.
You can grab this game and play for free for a limited time, with the deal expiring on March 2 next week. It's one of Steam's weekly free offers, which unfortunately do not typically allow players to continue playing for free after the trial period ends. That means you only have a few more days to try Age of Water out for yourself without coughing up any dinero.
That said, Age of Water is currently at a 60% discount until March 2 as well, so if you enjoy the free trial and have a good time sailing the open seas at the end of the world, you can pick it up on the cheap.
Age Of Water Has A Touch Of Fallout To It
Age of Water is a great and underrated post-apocalyptic game that fans of Fallout will definitely want to check out. It's kind of like Mad Max meets Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, with the essential and beloved crafting and looting mechanics in the Fallout franchise. The game currently has Mostly Positive reviews on Steam, with negative reviews largely based on poor performance at the game's launch.
Fans of open-world RPGs who are ready to take on a new adventure and are looking for a decent pirate game that won't break the bank should definitely take advantage of Age of Water's free trial period. It's one of several great deals on Steam that offers players quality content at zero cost, even if it's just for a limited time.
