If you're on a tight budget and looking for something to play, then Steam has a pretty wide selection of free games to choose from. While some of these are due to early access, demos, or beta tests, more than a few are available to keep forever. This includes a newly-released title that should be perfect for fans of the Legend of Zelda.

Chyma and the Toll of Time bell protagonist in the desert

Chyma and the Toll of Time lets you control Chyma, the titular character who's a small bell. In order to save the world from a falling meteor, Chyma has to discover the secret of his people by exploring a temple. Chyma can split himself into two due to a power called the Rungback. You'll use this copy, called the Reverb, of Chyma to solve numerous puzzles as you make your way through the levels of a temple.

For anyone that's played Four Swords or Minish Cap, that kind of mechanic should sound familiar. The dungeons also have a really nice vibe that feels like they're from classic Legend of Zelda games. If you're a fan of the older Zelda games, or even a few on Switch like the Link's Awakening remake, then you should be right at home with Chyma and the Toll of Time.

You can view gameplay, curtesy of GogetaSuperx, above if you want to see more before you download Chyma and the Toll of Time yourself. The game design is pretty nice, and it features over 30 puzzles throughout the various levels of the temple. Although it just released on April 23, Chyma and the Toll of Time already has a "Positive" review score on Steam.

Finding free games to download on Steam can sometimes be a mixed bag, so it's nice to see one that actually has positive reviews right now. If you're a Zelda fan, Chyma and the Toll of Time looks pretty great. And even if Zelda isn't your thing, the puzzles, gameplay, and design of this free Steam game still look like they're worth checking out regardless.
