There's one game that's quickly gaining the attention of many fans of Stardew Valley, partly because it somehow manages to blend cheerful coziness with supernatural macabre. Of course, Stardew Valley's developer, ConcernedApe, is already planning on having Haunted Chocolatier be set in a haunted castle, so perhaps that isn't too surprising a mixture.
The farming sim community has been inundated with a variety of approaches, including several that embrace the darker side of the cozy genre. However, this upcoming farming life sim full of vampires and werewolves twists things further by introducing the idea of having compassion towards the undead while also enjoying romancing the locals, brewing potions, and even doing some embroidery in your spare time.
In the upcoming Moonlight Peaks, players farm magical crops and livestock while embracing their own vampiric abilities, such as turning into a bat. Of course, being a vampire, you are doing it all at night and must return to your coffin before the sun comes up. The game includes plenty of mystical stories to uncover while you transform your gothic farm and home.
No vampire should have to face life alone, unless they want to, so in Moonlight Peaks there are 23 confirmed romance options, including death itself and a whimsical love demon. Despite Death wearing a colorful shirt over its Grim Reaper robes, one has to imagine it isn't super easy to charm. You could even choose to date and marry someone who isn't an undead and then lovingly transform them into a vampire to join you for all eternity.
Of course, as the child of Count Dracula himself, you have a lot of expectations that go beyond raising Draculambs and growing glowing flowers. In a town filled with werewolves, witches, mermaids, and more, your goal is to prove to Dracula that you don't have to embrace evil. Along with your three-eyed Hellkitten, Moonlight Peaks lets you explore having compassion and love as a vampire who just wants to have a cozy life of non-evilness.
Moonlight Peaks gives players much more to do than simply farming and fishing. There's a card game, Nokturna, that can be played with the residents, flower arranging and embroidery, potion-crafting, and even the ability to shapeshift. Learning spells from the witches in town can help make the farm work easier, as can the powerful potions you can brew.
Although not currently released, Moonlight Peaks is releasing in just a couple of days, on July 7, 2026, for Steam and Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. However, if you want to try it out for free before then, there is currently a free demo available on Steam to give you a taste of what to expect. It's even Steam Deck verified for those of us who enjoy curling up on the sofa to play our games rather than always sitting at the computer.
