Despite there not being any particularly recent movie adaptations (and the ones we did have failed to hit as intended), Star Wars is actually in a remarkably healthy place as a franchise right now. That's largely thanks to wider releases that really capture what the series is all about, expanding the existing lore and building on it in a way that fans can appreciate.

The Star Wars Jedi series is set to get a third and final part over the next year or so, and the conclusion of Cal Kestis' story could easily see him show up in other mediums. There are other games that have come to the forefront, including the Star Wars: Unlimited TCG, which is getting a new release that you'll definitely want to be aware of if you play, or are thinking about taking it up.

Over on the official website for the Star Wars: Unlimited TCG, the developer shared an update about the latest set that's releasing for the game, entitled Ashes of the Empire. As you may be able to tell from the title, it focuses on the final throes of the evil Galactic Empire, and it sounds like a set that should have some iconic cards for players to pick up and play.

In confirming the news for their community, the developer shared the following update about the set:

"Welcome to the official first look at Ashes of the Empire, the exciting next set of Star Wars: Unlimited! On the topic of “iconic moments,” this set turns its focus to one specific era within the Star Wars galaxy: the Battle of Endor and the years that follow it. The set’s title is Ashes of the Empire, after all, so it’s only natural that it would be all about the characters, ships, and events that played a starring role during the fall of the Galactic Empire and the period of uncertainty that came after.

"With two new token types and a new keyword allowing your units to work together for victory, Ashes of the Empire is sure to bring plenty of tools for creating even more iconic moments at the table."

The new set comes with fresh Deck Leaders to play in Luke Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine, as well as cards for other iconic characters from the original trilogy, including Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Moff Jerjerrod, and even Anakin Skywalker after he has thrown Palpatine down that big hole.

In total, the new set adds over 260 cards to the full available collection, as well as the aforementioned Tokens and a new keyword in Support. As mentioned in the title, it's set to launch in July, so you don't even have too long to wait for more Star Wars-related fun times with your friends.
