EXCLUSIVE: Comedians Emmy Blotnick and Jourdain Fisher are taking new specials to Gorilla Comedy+. They’ll be among the first to debut on the recently announced streaming service of 800 Pound Gorilla, launching May 5.
Blotnick’s What’s Her Secret? will be available for streaming exclusively on Gorilla Comedy+ starting May 18, with a worldwide YouTube release slated for June 16th at 7 p.m. CT. Fisher’s Bits & Pieces premieres on Gorilla Comedy+ May 25, with a worldwide YouTube release slated for June 23rd at 7 p.m. CT.
In the follow-up to her album Party Nights, Blotnick returns to the stage of Brooklyn’s Union Hall with absurd yet relatable takes on marriage, dogs, and Hailey Bieber’s skincare for “dull women.”
“I’m so excited to partner with Gorilla Comedy+ and have one of the first specials to debut on the platform,” she told Deadline. “I’ve always wanted to say I was ‘in on the ground floor’ of something. Also, I just read that gorillas typically live to be 35-40 years old, which is how old I am, and that is a lot to think about.”
In his first self-produced special, filmed at the Comedy Cellar, Fisher riffs on life as a Southern transplant in New York, covering growing up poor with strict parents, high school struggles, politics, and more.
Fisher said, “I can’t wait for this special to come out and for people to see who I really am. It’s the thing I’m most proud of in my career so far.”
A New York-based stand-up, writer and actress, Blotnick previously released a half-hour special with Comedy Central, has performed at festivals around the world, and has made appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Conan. She appears regularly at the Comedy Cellar and as a panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me.
As a writer, Blotnick recently completed two seasons of the critically acclaimed FX series English Teacher. She served as a supervising producer on the Peacock animated series In the Know, with additional credits including Mel Brooks’ History of the World, Part II for Hulu, Bust Down for Peacock, and Pause with Sam Jay for HBO, where she was co-executive producer. Previously, she wrote for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and was head writer for Comedy Central’s The President Show. She is repped by CAA, Artists First, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
Fisher is a Brooklyn-based comedian, writer, and actor who has appeared on Comedy Central, After Midnight on CBS and Don’t Tell Comedy. He’s made two appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and after receiving a standing ovation both times, was hired by Fallon as a staff writer. Fisher was named a Just for Laughs New Face in 2018 and has also written for Viceland, Netflix and BET. His debut comedy album Good for You can be found on all streaming platforms. He is repped by Reliant Talent, Authentic, and Garrett Legal.
