Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.
For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.
He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.
His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already been selling itself as a fresh start for Peter Parker, but that doesn’t mean it’s leaving everything from No Way Home behind. The film’s trailer and official promo have made a big deal out of Peter’s new comic-inspired suit, complete with the more pronounced raised webbing that fans instantly clocked. But if a newly leaked piece of merchandise is legit, that may not be the only costume Tom Holland wears in the movie. In fact, one very familiar suit may be sticking around for at least part of the ride.
An unofficial image of upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day Funko merchandise has started making the rounds online, and it appears to show two different Spidey looks from the film, including the Final Swing suit first seen at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The leaked design reportedly shows that suit in a battle-damaged state, which has led to speculation that it appears early in the movie before Peter upgrades again. Now it's important to note that none of this has officially been released, so take it with a grain of salt for the time being, but what we do know is that Brand New Day picks up four years after No Way Home and follows Peter as a full-time Spider-Man in a New York that no longer remembers him.
That would fit a long-running pattern in these movies. The previous suit has often carried over into the next Spider-Man film in some form, and the Final Swing costume has had a lot of goodwill behind it since No Way Home ended with Peter sewing it himself as the clearest symbol yet of his independence. If Brand New Day really does begin with that suit before moving him into the newer raised-web design, it would give the movie a pretty natural visual bridge between Peter’s old life and this next chapter.
