Southern Charm’s Craig Conover Breaks Silence on Paige DeSorbo Breakup Rumors

Craig Conover is still "shocked" over the end of his relationship with Paige DeSorbo.

After the Summer House star, 32, announced that they called it quits on their three-year relationship, the Southern Charm star, 35, is speaking out about their decision to go their separate ways.

"I figured it's finally time to check in with everyone, sorry about the delay," Craig said in a video shared to Instagram Stories Jan. 7. "This has all been very, very unexpected, to say the least."

The Bravo star went on to note that he's still navigating his "new normal," confirming the breakup came right before the holidays.

"I was very shocked and it's ok, it takes two people to be in a relationship," he added. "You can't control other people you can only control how you react to it."

That said, Craig also wants everyone to extend grace to his now-ex.

"I'm still processing everything, which is normal, I mean, three-year relationship, it's your best friend who you talk to all day, every day and then they're just gone," he noted. "So one day I'll be able to talk more on it but right now I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind messages."

Craig's statement on the former couple's surprising split comes after Paige opened up about making the decision to break up, sharing that "no one did anything" in particular.

"I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want," she explained during the Dec. 30 episode of her and Hannah Berner's Giggly Squad podcast. "And I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real time and what you want for your future.”

And that future, as Paige explained, includes Craig as a friend.

“I think he is one of the best people I’ve met in my entire life,” she continued. “I will remain the biggest fan of him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best because he is the best.”

During the episode, Paige went on to shut down rumors that timing of their shows—Summer House returns for season nine next year while Southern Charm is currently airing its 10th season—played a role in their breakup.

“No one can tell me what to do,” she shared. “The network has power, but they don’t have that much power."

It's a sentiment that Craig also previously shared when it came to the rumors surrounding their relationship.

"Remember back in high school when people would gossip?" he told E! News earlier this month. "Like, I got most dramatic in high school. I'm a huge gossiper, but just don't take everything so seriously."

But on a more serious note, Craig also shared why an engagement wouldn't be in their future anytime soon.

"I'm having a lot of fun challenging myself in New York City now," the South Carolina native admitted. "The company's going really well in Charleston. I just don't wanna cut off everything that we're both doing. We're on these parallel paths and it's really exciting. I can't wait to see what she accomplishes."

Craig Conover Addresses the Split

Over a week after the breakup news went public, Craig shared his side of the story.

"This has all been very, very unexpected, to say the least," Craig said in a video shared to Instagram Jan. 7. "I was very shocked and it's ok, it takes two people to be in a relationship. You can't control other people you can only control how you react to it."
