Sorry, My Hero Academia Fans. The Manga's Best Spinoff Will Come To an End Soon

1 week ago 2

2024 has been an amazing but bittersweet year for the My Hero Academia franchise. After 10 years of continuous publication, the main manga series came to an end on August 5, 2024. Deku’s story had a brief comeback with the release of an emotive epilogue that revealed the fate of Class 1-A students, after which the publication came to a definitive end.

Fans might want to prepare for yet another ending, as the Team-Up Missions spin-off is also set to be concluded in February 2025. The last chapter will be published in the Saikyo Jump Magazine, which is targeted at younger audiences. After this news, there will be no more ongoing manga series revolving around the My Hero Academia universe.

Written and Illustrated by Yōkō Akiyama

According to a recent Amazon listing, the final chapter of the My Hero Academia spin-off series, Team-Up Missions, will be released in the February edition of the Saikyo Jump Magazine. Illustrated by Yoko Akiyama, the series, which focused on Deku and his friends joining popular characters from the series in simple and entertaining adventures, began back in 2019. Although the manga was not as popular as the main series, as it mostly catered to young children, it was still beloved by a large portion of the fandom.

The news came as a shock to the community, as it was announced only a few months after the ending of the original manga series. Still, seeing as the main series will not continue, it would be hard for the spin-off to retain a consistent audience, this likely being the main reason behind its ending. While not much information about the chapter is known as of December 2024, fans expect an official notice to be released in January 2025, as the magazine that will contain the final chapter will be shipped on the 4th of that same month.

This entry will cover the ending of the fan-favorite Final War arc, continuing where the previous season left off. Fans can expect some of the best battles in the series to be beautifully adapted, as the amazing artists of Studio Bones work on this long-awaited season.

Moreover, during Jump Festa 2025, an anime adaptation of the celebrated spin-off manga series, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, was announced. This show will follow the story of Koichi Haimawari, a selfless hero-hopeful who missed his entrance exam trying to save someone from drowning. To pursue his dream of saving people like his idol, All Might, the protagonist will go out to fight crime as a vigilante, a dangerous and illegal profession. The Vigilante’s anime adaptation is set to be released in April 2025 and has the potential to become just as popular as the main series.

My Hero Academia will remain one of the most popular and cherished franchises in existence. Nonetheless, fans need to prepare themselves for its eventual definitive end, as new content will one day stop being released. Followers of Kohei Horikoshi’s work need to enjoy and appreciate the series now more than ever.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
