Sofia Vergara shares cryptic post about 'narcissistic' men after ex-husband Joe Manganiello's explosive allegations

Sofia Vergara has shared a seemingly pointed message after her ex-husband Joe Manganiello made shocking claims about her.

On Friday, the 54-year-old actress reshared an Instagram Stories post calling out 'narcissistic' men.

She added the note, 'Remember, kids, when dealing with a narcissist, it doesn't matter how much you do for them, because they will resent you for it and nothing will [ever] be enough, and they'll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy.'

The chart comparing a 'good man' to a 'narcissistic man' was initially posted by the Modern Family star's son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, 35. It comes days after Manganiello, 49, said Vergara 'refused to hug' him amid an autoimmune disease battle that left him suicidal.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Vergara for comment. 

Manganiello split from Vergara in July 2023 after seven years of marriage – with the pair making conflicting remarks about whether starting a family was the cause of their divorce. 

Amid the listed behaviors of narcissistic men in Vergara's post were gaslighting, lying, and blame shifting. 

The graphic also noted that narcissists are 'grandiose, self-serving, play the victim, and make excuses.' 

Manganiello unveils the details behind the demise of his marriage to Vergara in his new memoir Bloodlines, due to hit shelves on October 13.

He alleges the union became 'devoid of any emotionality whatsoever' as his illness, which led to 'major organ amputation,' took its toll. 

In an excerpt obtained by People, the author says his health began to decline shortly after the exes' 2015 wedding.

He wrote that he battled 'excruciating abdominal pain that left him unable to walk as his digestive tract ulcerated, along with fevers, blistering rashes, headaches and fatigue' as well as bleeding from the rectum.

This led him to lose 60lbs and have part of his intestines removed in a 2016 emergency surgery, leaving him dependent on an ostomy bag.

Manganiello said pain medication typically prescribed for Crohn's disease and colitis did not work, and he was 'forced' to turn to hydrocodone pills, fentanyl patches and marijuana – despite having been sober for 13 years.

He also alleged that as he searched for treatment, Vergara 'refused to hug him even when he begged.' 

Additionally, the actor refuted Vergara's January 2024 statement to the Spanish publication El País that she and Manganiello called it quits because he wanted kids and she did not.

He said his illness led him to giving up starting a family with Vergara after failed IVF attempts, which led them to consider egg donors, with the star saying he 'didn’t want to die and leave Vergara with a child who wasn’t biologically hers.'

Vergara announced her divorce from Manganiello in July 2023.

The Colombian-bred beauty told El País months later: 'My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom.' 

She explained, 'I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.'

Mentioning her son Manolo from her first marriage to high school sweetheart Joe Gonzalez, she noted, 'I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children.'

Vergara and Manganiello announced their divorce in a joint statement shared with Page Six more than three years ago.

They said: 'We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.'

Only two days after announcing their split, the True Blood actor filed for divorce and listed their date of separation as July 2.

The reason for the end of their marriage was cited as 'irreconcilable differences.'

Manganiello is now engaged to actress Caitlin O'Connor, 37.
