The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is a game for the history books. While its spot in the overall rankings of The Elder Scrolls series is up for debate, it's one of the biggest games in the world in terms of its longevity. Bethesda seems keen on releasing the game on everything beyond kitchen appliances, and fans keep modding the game indefinitely.

Over on Reddit, fans are discussing just how far the game has come, especially from a visual standpoint. It turns out Skyrim has an even longer life ahead of it, and some folks are wondering if the new Elder Scrolls will look similar.

Skyrim Will Never Die

It'll Be Modded For Decades

Presenting a heavily modded version of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Reddit user Alvsolutely muses on how extensive the scene has gotten, and how far the game has been pushed: "While we wait for TES6, the Skyrim modding community has been utilizing some more recent modern graphical technologies to make the game look good. TES6 definitely won't look anything like this, but stuff like huge draw distance and beautiful high fantasy landscapes are basically guaranteed."

Some fans are already impressed by how Skyrim looks without mods, with one user replying: "Skyrim already looks good." Another fan is thoroughly loving how deep the modding system is: "No game looks as good or has as deep RP mechanism as Modded Skyrim."

Others are confident Bethesda will deliver with The Elder Scrolls 6: "Why do so many have low expectations for the graphical fidelity of Elder Scrolls VI? Please, I beg you, buy Starfield and see just how much of an upgrade the Creation Engine 2 is."

There Are Five Others To Play First

While Bethesda revealed The Elder Scrolls 6 way too early, the wait for it has been relatively painless. There is so much to rediscover with the first five The Elder Scrolls games as it is, and modding has made that sentiment even truer over time. Between all the games collectively, there are hundreds of hours to explore, even without using modding at all.

Before The Elder Scrolls 6 comes out (or is even further shown off with gameplay), consider giving an older game in the series a try, like Skyrim. Many of them have been given out as freebies over the years or are available on a range of subscription services.
