Sims 4's Base Game Lot Refresh Is Worth Updating Your Legacy Saves For

7 hours ago 2

The January patch of The Sims 4 has refreshed residential lots of the base game. Willow Creek and Oasis Springs now have even more personality. Each home feels like the pre-made townies really live there, with decor and objects tailored to their traits and stories. These lots are automatically added to new games, but there is a way to update existing saves. It is worth the time, as it will give you a great reason to visit these Sims.

Some of these homes were already fairly good but were even more fitting for families of various sizes. Once updated, you might want to quickly socialize your way into the new homes of the Calientes or Goths. But, it is a question of whether you want to be a friendly roommate or a new spouse or are just stealing a lot for yourself. There is also the option of evicting the intended family in the process of your renovations in The Sims 4.

Willow Creek And Oasis Springs Are Livelier

Townies Feel Like They Really Occupy Lots

This refresh has affected all the original families released with the original TS4. This includes the Pancakes, BFFs, Goths, Spencer-Kim-Lewis, Landgraabs, Calientes, Roomies, and Zest. Uninhabited homes are untouched but could be improved in the future.

Every bedroom is now personalized and easily identifiable. They may reflect a Sim’s traits, jobs, aspiration, or default skills. For example, Gavin Richards has a computer and easel to use his Creative and Muser Traits. Best of all, Johnny Zest finally has a two-person bed, implying he is ready to invite Sims for a romantic evening.

Many of the houses also have extended TS4 lore. The Pancakes has allocated space for a newborn, implying that the birth of Iggy Pancakes will happen soon. However, Bob and Eliza are still rather cold around each other. Their home even now has a basement area that acts as a quiet respite for Bob Pancakes, complete with a bar and spare TV.

Sims 4 Creators, We're Begging You To Avoid These Mistakes When Uploading To The Gallery

The Gallery is a great way of sharing lots in The Sims 4. But, without testing parts of them your creations can be broken for other players.

Not all the changes are for the best, though. Iconic TS4 elders Dennis Kim and Vivian Lewis are regulated to hiking up three flights of stairs to their rooms in the Cypress Terrace. The extremely rich Landgraabs and Goths still have a bunch of empty, unused space. This could be a commentary on how wastefully lavish these families are.

Both New And Old Lots Are Options

While the lot refresh occurs on all new games, sprucing up an older TS4 save via the Gallery is still possible. The official Maxis account makes both the new and old versions of Willow Creek and Oasis Springs homes public. The pre-January versions are denoted with “Legacy” before the building’s proper name. By default, the homes are accessible offline, but if you delete them, they can be downloaded again from Maxis.
