In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix's Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. Recently, Sherlock star Martin Freeman compounded fans' frustrations with yet another admission that there is little chance the hit detective series would return. Despite fans having hoped for almost a decade that a hidden episode was lying in wait following the disappointment of the Season 4 finale "The Final Problem," Freeman responded to the suggestion of a return by saying, "No, not right now. Sorry." However, in the darkness, a glimmer of light has emerged in the form of a first look at a Sherlock reunion in a different returning Gatiss project.

As shown in the image available below, Sherlock's Rupert Graves, who portrayed Inspector Lestrade in the series, will be joining Season 2 of the hugely popular cozy crime story Bookish. Becoming one of U&alibi's biggest shows to date when it debuted, Bookish was an instant hit with the 1.5 million average viewers it attracted. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the show boasts a perfect 100% score, with one critic saying, "Bookish is supremely watchable and provides us with a brilliant new TV detective, some craftily constructed puzzles and a fascinating look at post-war London."

Graves is far from the only notable name joining the second season, with the ensemble including Jason Watkins as Harold Sneed, Miranda Richardson as Duchess Alberta, Simon Callow as ‘E’, Claire Skinner as Mrs Calthrop, and Youssef Kerkour as Yusuf. Returning stars include Polly Walker as Trottie Book, Connor Finch as Jack Blunt, Elliot Levey as Inspector Bliss, Blake Harrison as Sergeant Morris, Buket Kömür as Nora, and Nadia Albina as Dr Calder.

What is 'Bookish' Season 2 About?

Not only has a first look at Season 2 debuted, but fans have also been graced with the Season 2 synopsis. "Book investigates the world of spiritualism when he’s asked to help solve the mysterious case involving medium, Harold Sneed (Watkins)," the synopsis begins. It continues, "Off Savile Row, Bliss asks Book to help in a puzzling murder at a gentleman’s outfitters - the elderly tailor Maxie Kleinmann is keen to confess to the murder, but the evidence doesn’t quite stack up and points to something much more complex and sinister." The rest of the Season 2 synopsis reads:

"And Book and Jack are sent to the seemingly charming German village of Würl by the mysterious 'E' to thwart a thieving Duchess at Christmas time. However, festivities take a deadly turn when Book and Jack uncover secrets of their own, past and present, in an ominous castle brimming with plausible murder suspects. Book’s close association to the police continues to be not without its personal dangers and his lavender marriage with childhood best friend Trottie, is threatened by debonair Colonel Winters (Graves). Marrying post-war nostalgia with the reckless and life affirming atmosphere of the times, Bookish is a stylish period detective drama with a difference."
