While Netflix promotes their original films more than anything else, it's always great to see an underrated older movie hit the streaming service and find a new audience. Thankfully, that's exactly what has happened with Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, which is trending on the platform right now.

In fact, outside of an intriguing true crime documentary and Kpop Demon Hunters, Netflix's biggest movie ever, the streamer's most popular movies don't feature any originals. Instead, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates sits up there with Independence Day and Night at the Museum on its charts.

Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates Is In Netflix's Top 10

For the first week and a half of February 2026, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates has sat on the platform's top 10, reaching as high as #2. The film hit the service on February 1 and immediately grabbed the attention of subscribers, which is better than it did upon release.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates was released in July 2016 and grossed just over $75 million, which is a solid number, though the budget of $35 million meant it wasn't too profitable. Critics also didn't love the film, with it currently sitting at a disappointing 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The premise of Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates sees the two titular siblings put out an ad on Craigslist to find fake dates to their cousin's wedding to keep them out of trouble. They become semi-famous for the ad, which finds Tatiana and Alice, who become their dates but are arguably as wild as the brothers.

Of course, shenanigans ensue at the wedding events, yet through it all, romance sparks among the four. Interestingly, this wacky setup was actually inspired by a true story in 2013, which the brothers then turned into a book.

The Cast Of Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates Is Great

Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick, Adam Devine and Zac Efron in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

As noted, reviews for Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates were lackluster, but it truly deserved better. For starters, it boasts a stellar cast. Zac Efron flexes his comedic chops as Dave, while the hilarious Adam DeVine is his usual great self.

Their counterparts are two of the funniest and most talented actors in Hollywood, Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza. It almost doesn't matter what a script consists of because these four people are sure to bring the laughs, which is what they do in this movie.

Add in supporting parts by Jake Johnson, Kumail Nanjiani, Sugar Lyn Beard, and Sam Richardson, just to name a few, and you've got one of the best comedy casts anywhere. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates deserved more praise for just how funny it is and Netflix viewers giving it new life is great to hear.
