Selena Gomez clings to Benny Blanco on date night after fans begged her to leave him over his hygiene

Selena Gomez was seen cuddling up to Benny Blanco in a booth as they stepped out to a bowling alley and arcade this week.

The music producer's hygiene became a source of furious controversy last month on the pilot episode of his new podcast, on which Gomez was seen kissing one of his feet and viewers zeroed in on how filthy the sole was.

Fans flocked to social media to express their disgust, marveling that Gomez was with him and in some cases even pleading with her to leave him.

Meanwhile Gomez's affection for her husband was clearly undented when they surfaced in Los Angeles for their date night Tuesday. 

Blanco, 38, wrapped his arms around Gomez, 33, kissed her and at one point rested his head gently on her shoulder as she sidled up to be close to him.

They appeared the image of romantic bliss as they sat by the bowling lanes, and they stayed right by each other as they perused the various arcade games.

Blanco's feet became a hot topic on the inaugural episode of his podcast Friends Keep Secrets, which he hosts with Lil Dicky and his wife Kristin Batalucco.

During the same episode, he farted into the microphone and joked: 'Wait, see if you guys can pick this up,' raising further fan queries about his personal habits.

The furor became so explosive that Blanco was forced to address it when he and Lil Dicky went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! shortly thereafter to promote their show.

Defending himself from the aspersions cast on his cleanliness, Blanco insisted the filth on the soles of his feet was 'the facility's fault, not mine!'

He insisted: 'The floors are - I have great feet, hold on!' then tore off one of his shoes and socks and demanded: 'Someone zoom in on my feet!' 

Gomez and Blanco tied the knot on September 27 last year in Santa Barbara, with the bride's longtime gal pal Taylor Swift flying in for the occasion and giving a speech.

However Gomez has allegedly refused multiple requests to be a bridesmaid at Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce, with the Daily Mail exclusively revealing why.

The online brouhaha over Blanco's feet came a couple of months after Gomez found herself replying to a barbed fan inquiry about her own self-maintenance.

She responded with refreshing frankness when she was posed a blunt question about managing her supposed facial hair in December.

The newlywed pop star shared an Insta Stories video confessing that 'someone made me laugh' by asking her: 'How do you shave your mustache?'

Gomez reacted to the query by publicly explaining to her fans what the actual provenance of the shadow above her upper lip was - melasma.

Melasma is a harmless skin condition involving discolored splotches that can be brought on by such causes as sun exposure, birth control or pregnancy.

In a since-deleted video, Gomez confessed that 'I totally get' why she was asked the shaving question, while clarifying that her melasma was 'from the sun.'

The Come and Get It hitmaker, who launched her cosmetics line Rare Beauty in 2019, offered a word to the wise to viewers to use sunscreen.
