The Scream franchise's newest movie just got even scarier.

A new trailer for Scream 7 has been released, revealing more brutal Ghostface kills while hinting at a major connection to Sidney's past. The story of Scream 7 sees Sidney take center stage for the first time since Scream 4, this time dealing with a killer targeting her family. This includes her daughter, Tatum, who is now in grave danger.

Now, Paramount Pictures has released a new Big Game Spot trailer for Scream 7 ahead of the Super Bowl. The trailer reveals the new Ghostface brutally killing a number of people, including stringing a woman up in a theater and wrapping a police officer in plastic before stabbing him. The voiceover implies he's going after anyone close to Sidney.

During the trailer, Sidney can be seen trying to save her daughter, who, as revealed in a TV interview, is the same age she was when the events of the original Scream transpired. The end of the trailer also sees Sidney shocked to hear Stu's voice, one of the Ghostfaces from the first movie. The trailer ends confirming tickets go on sale starting February 9.

The 2026 horror movie is promising a very different return for the franchise in contrast to the previous, newer installments. Scream VI ended with its core characters, Sam and Tara, escaping from a number of Ghostface killers, with the former relinquishing her father's mask in the process. However, neither will be returning for this newest installment.

Instead, the seventh movie will be focused on Sidney's past coming back to haunt her. It's unclear who this new Ghostface is, but they seem to know a lot about her and the people close to her. This includes the ability to potentially mimic the voice of older killers, like Stu, given his confirmed death in the original film.

The new trailer is also promising to rival some of Scream's most brutal kills, especially with how public it appears this Ghostface wants their rampage to be. Given how much they're targeting Sidney and the people around her, it's possible some familiar faces could be on the chopping block, making for a much less forgiving installment than ever before.

With the movie progressing in a dark direction, coupled with throwbacks to Sidney's past, it seems inevitable there will be some major story twists to come. For now, though, it appears Scream 7 will be keeping its mystery close to its chest as its killer targets the franchise's protagonist and everything she holds dear.

Scream 7 arrives in theaters on February 27, 2026.
