EXCLUSIVE: Amid the buzzy rollout of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which she co-headlines for FX, Sarah Pidgeon has entered talks to star alongside Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal in Honeymoon with Harry, Amazon MGM Studios‘ new dramedy from directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.
No word yet on the role to be played by Pidgeon. Based on the book by Bart Baker, Honeymoon with Harry follows a rough-around-the-edges man (Gyllenhaal) who ends up sharing an unwanted journey with his fiancée’s prickly, overprotective father (Costner) after a life-altering turn upends their plans. Against the backdrop of an island honeymoon, the two men clash and bicker before gradually uncovering an unexpected bond.
Should the deal make, Pidgeon will play the fiancée.
Dan Fogelman penned the script. Producers include Fogelman, Mike Karz via Gulfstream Pictures, and Jennifer Salke via her recently launched Sullivan Street Productions banner. The project marks the latter’s first with Amazon MGM since stepping down as head of the studio and her producing debut. Salke reunites with Fogelman after championing his hit family drama This Is Us during her pre-Amazon MGM days as President of NBC Entertainment.
Honeymoon with Harry also reunites Karz and Gulfstream Pictures with Amazon MGM Studios following their work on the romantic comedy Upgraded, starring Camila Mendes, and racing pic One Fast Move, starring KJ Apa and Eric Dane. Currently, the companies are also working together on Goodbye Girl, the new rom-com starring Kiernan Shipka and Cole Sprouse on which we were first to report.
Pidgeon stars opposite Paul Anthony Kelly, playing Carolyn Bessette to his John F. Kennedy Jr., in FX’s new Ryan Murphy series Love Story, which has hit the zeitgeist in the last month, breaking records to become the most-watched limited series on both Hulu and Disney+ with 25M+ hours viewed for its first five episodes alone. Ahead of the show’s premiere, she landed a starring role alongside Liam Hemsworth, Caleb Landry Jones, and Dianne Wiest in Paul Schrader’s new erotic thriller, Non Compos Mentis, which we announced during EFM.
Pidgeon earned a Tony nomination for her work in the David Adjmi play Stereophonic, marking her Broadway debut. She is represented by Gersh, Anonymous Content, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
