Sarah Michelle Gellar has sparked feud rumors with her former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt, thanks to an awkward interview that went viral.

The two actresses starred in the 1997 thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer, in a cast that included Freddie Prinze Jr., who is now married to Sarah.

Their movie became a runaway hit that spawned two sequels - and now, 27 years later, another instalment is currently filming in Sydney.

Although Sarah is not in the new movie, Freddie is, and the couple consequently spent Thanksgiving in Australia with their children Charlotte, 14, and Rocky, 11.

But despite the fact Sarah is well-placed to have plenty of inside information about the film, she uncomfortably dodged a question about it this week.

She was asked about the possibility of Jennifer being in the new I Know What You Did Last Summer film, during a red carpet interview with Extra.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has gone viral over an awkward answer to an interview question about her former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt, while talking to Extra

In response to the question, Sarah wore a tight expression and said: 'I have nothing to do with that,' before ending the interview by smiling and walking off.

She gave the interview during the red carpet premiere of her upcoming show Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel to the smash hit Showtime drama Dexter.

A fan posted the exchange to X, formerly known as Twitter, and exclaimed: 'Look at her face!! She hates her so bad! sksksksk.'

The replies were filled with other X users agreeing with the original poster, remarking that Sarah's answer 'seems so shady LOL' and marveling: 'Omg that face.'

'I felt the energy lol,' wrote a third viewer, while a fourth likened the moment to Mariah Carey's infamous jibe when asked about Jennifer Lopez: 'I don't know her.'

'Omg that face she did was so sassy lmao is there beef between them,' another X user giggled, and still another observed: 'Damn, that energy shift.'

Sarah's character Helen Shivers is murdered in the original I Know What You Did Last Summer movie, which is why she is not part of the sequel's cast.

In 2014, Sarah offered a tart reply when she was asked about Jennifer during an appearance on The Morning Show in Australia.

Sarah was asked to offer her reaction to the names of past co-stars, and when Jennifer was mentioned, she quipped: 'I know what your boobs did last summer - 'cause whenever you see that movie, it's just a lot of cleavage.'

She was then asked if she and Jennifer kept in contact, and replied: 'I haven't seen her in a long time. LA is so segregated that unless you sort of live in the same area and your kids are sort of in the same - you don't run into people in the same way.'

Last month, while visiting the set of the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer movie, Sarah took a picture of a director's chair and posted it to Instagram.

She was asked about the movie in her new interview, and initially spoke glowingly about the project, gushing: 'It's so good.'

Sarah added that 'there’s so many great stories, and the way to honor them is to just extend that universe,' while praising the film's director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson for hiring 'an incredible cast' and noted that 'the script is so much fun.'
