With Eva Noblezada departing her role as Daisy Buchanan in Broadway‘s The Great Gatsby to join her former Hadestown castmates for a limited run of that musical in London, Sarah Hyland (Modern Family, Broadway’s Grey Gardens) will step into the Gatsby role.

The castings were announced today in separate releases.

The musical chairs kicked off with the previous announcement that Gatsby star Jeremy Jordan would leave his role of Jay Gatsby on January 19 to lead this spring’s Broadway production of the musical Floyd Collins. Ryan McCartan (Wicked, Heathers the Musical) was subsequently announced as the new Gatsby.

Earlier today, the producers of Hadestown announced that Noblezada would reunite with her original Broadway castmates of that musical – Reeve Carney, André De Shields, Amber Gray and Patrick Page – for a limited run at London’s Lyric Theatre from February 11, 2025 until March 9, 2025. (Rumors that the Hadestown reunion engagement will be live captured have not been confirmed or addressed.)

Noblezada will exit from Gatsby on January 30, 2025. Both she and Jordan have played the starring roles since the show opened last spring.

With Noblezada confirmed for London, Gatsby producers announced today that Hyland will be taking the Gatsby role of Daisy Buchanan beginning Monday, February 10. McCartan takes over as Gatsby on January 21.

Hyland is best known for Modern Family, but she made her Broadway debut in 2006 in Grey Gardens as the young Jackie Bouvier. She returned to the New York stage this year as Audrey in the current hit Off Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors.
