Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka Tano in live-action, revealed that her favorite scene as the character was actually cut out of The Mandalorian. Rosario Dawson made her first appearance as Ahsoka in The Mandalorian season 2. Since then, she's had appearances in a few other Star Wars shows, like The Book of Boba Fett and her own spinoff, Ahsoka. She's also set to appear in upcoming Star Wars shows like Ahsoka season 2. Even as Dawson gets more chances to play Ahsoka Tano, though, her favorite moment as the character still comes from her first appearance.

During a panel with Jo Deckelmeier Fan Expo Canada, where Screen Rant is a media partner, Rosario Dawson revealed what her favorite moment was during her time playing Ahsoka Tano.

Grogu. In The Mandalorian, I did that shot that you see sort of behind the scenes stuff where I put my forehead to his forehead and I remember doing it in the scene and thinking this is too much, right? I'm probably getting orange on his forehead and Dave was going to say something and be like, this doesn't work. And then it wasn't in the scene and I was like, okay. Yeah. And then it was all over everywhere else. He loved it and he actually drew it for me and so it was a really, really sweet spot.

As Dawson explained, her favorite moment in portraying Ahsoka was when she met Grogu for the first time, and specifically when she put her forehead up to his. That scene was cut from The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5, but an image of the moment was released as promotion for the show. Since then, it's become a very popular photo, and it's even inspired fan art of Ahsoka and Grogu's relationship. It's easy to see why Dawson's favorite moment as Ahsoka was that meeting, given how emotional and iconic it was.

There's Something So Iconic About Ahsoka & Grogu's Meeting

Even though parts of Ahsoka and Grogu's first encounter were cut out of The Mandalorian, the scene has still managed to become an iconic moment. Part of the reason their first meeting was so iconic is because of how important it was to not only Grogu, but also Ahsoka. That meeting revealed Grogu's real name, as he had only been referred to as "the child" or "kid" prior to that, and it also marked the first time Ahsoka made the jump from animation to live-action. It was a huge moment for longtime Star Wars fans and viewers who were only familiar with The Mandalorian alike.

Seeing Ahsoka interact with Din Djarin and Grogu years after that finale was like finding out that an old friend is safe.

Ahsoka and Grogu's first meeting was also a very emotional scene. Prior to The Mandalorian season 2, nobody knew what happened to Ahsoka after the finale of Star Wars Rebels. Seeing her interact with Din Djarin and Grogu years after that finale was like finding out that an old friend is safe. It also kickstarted the second half of The Mandalorian season 2, as Ahsoka told Din to find a Jedi who could train Grogu, which eventually led to the most emotional moment in the entire show: when Din took his helmet off so Grogu could see him.

Setting the scene's emotional impact aside, it's plain to see why Ahsoka's meeting with Grogu was so special to Rosario Dawson. It was her first time stepping into a role that was extremely iconic, and one that many Star Wars fans were extremely emotionally attached to. She likely had quite a few nerves going into The Mandalorian, and seeing how well her performance was received and how iconic her meeting with Grogu became must have been immensely rewarding. Rosario Dawson's first meeting with Grogu as Ahsoka Tano has a very good reason to be her favorite moment in playing the character.

The apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano was an accomplished Padawan who served during the Clone Wars. Ahsoka left the Jedi after she became disillusioned with the Jedi Council, but returned to serve in the Siege of Mandalore at the end of the Clone Wars. She survived Order 66, becoming a Rebel agent during the Dark Times of the Empire's reign, and her adventures continue in the New Republic era. Ahsoka was last seen stranded in a distant galaxy, having failed to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn's return.
