TLDR
- Ripple minted 811,026 RLUSD on the XRP Ledger on August 6.
- The transaction used a three-signer setup and cost 0.000405 XRP.
- RLUSD now makes up more than half of XRPL’s total stablecoin supply.
- Cumulative RLUSD trading volume has passed $2.5 billion since launch.
- Ripple has not given a public reason for the new mint.
Ripple minted 811,026 RLUSD on the XRP Ledger on August 6. The new tokens added to the total supply of the company’s dollar-backed stablecoin.
XRPScan data confirmed the transaction went through under ledger 106,109,031. The mint was recorded the same day it happened.
Records from XRPScan show the confirmation time was 7:37 IST. The full amount reached the destination account listed by the explorer.
Ripple issued the new tokens from its official RLUSD issuer account. No part of the amount was withheld or redirected during the transfer.
How the Mint Was Processed
The transaction used a three-signer setup to approve the new tokens. This kind of multisignature process is common for stablecoin issuers handling large mints.
The cost to process the transaction was small. It came to just 0.000405 XRP, based on ledger records.
The destination account received the full 811,026 RLUSD without any reduction. XRPScan listed the payment as successful.
Ripple has not explained why it issued this batch of tokens. Companies that issue stablecoins often mint new tokens to meet demand from traders or to support exchange liquidity.
New tokens can also support institutional settlements or treasury needs. They may also cover requests tied to customer issuance.
RLUSD’s Growing Role on XRPL
The mint follows months of growth for RLUSD on the XRP Ledger. In July, the token passed 50% of the total stablecoin supply on XRPL.
That milestone made RLUSD the largest stablecoin by supply on the network. It moved ahead of other dollar-pegged tokens used on XRPL.
Trading activity tied to RLUSD has grown along with its supply. Reports show cumulative trading volume has passed $2.5 billion since the token launched.
The rise in RLUSD supply is part of a wider increase in stablecoin activity across the crypto industry. Other dollar-pegged tokens, such as USDT and USDC, operate across many blockchain networks.
These tokens are commonly used for trading liquidity, payments, and other blockchain finance activities. A larger supply does not guarantee that a stablecoin will keep growing.
Stablecoins compete on factors like liquidity, exchange support, and their regulatory standing. How much they are used by traders and platforms also affects their success.
For XRPL, RLUSD’s growth has changed the network’s stablecoin landscape. The August mint added to that growth after months of steady gains.
Future demand for RLUSD will depend on how well it is adopted by users, exchanges, and apps. Continued integration across the XRP Ledger will play a role in that outcome as the year goes on.
