RHOBH's Bozoma Saint John undergoes surgery to remove 'grapefruit-sized' fibroid after losing home to LA fire

Bozoma Saint John revealed she underwent surgery to remove a 'grapefruit-sized' fibroid and various other smaller uterine fibroids, on Tuesday.

During an appearance on the After Show, the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star shared she scheduled the serious procedure in hopes to welcome a child with her boyfriend Keely Watson in the future.

'Fibroid surgery was so, it was a scary thing, because who wants to have surgery?' she told her RHOBH co-star costar Dorit Kemsley.

Though she admitted it was not an emergency surgery, the businesswoman claimed she went through with it to regain control of her reproductive health and as a precaution.

She added: 'Honestly, you know, when I had been discussing my fibroids with my doctor, anyway, it wasn't a life threatening situation where it's like, "Okay, look, if you don't have it, this is going to happen to you."

'I know that there are a lot of women who have very severe symptoms of their fibroids. I wasn't one of those people. However, they were large, they were growing. And I just felt like, why wait until some other point where I don't have a choice in order to do it?'

Uterine fibroids are noncancerous tumors that grow in the uterus. Symptoms include painful menstrual bleeding, lower back pain, constipation, frequent urination and pain during intercourse.

Per the Mayo Clinic, the number, size, and location of the fibroids can impact fertility and may affect can affect pregnancy outcomes. Uterine fibroids typically occur in women between 30 and 50-years-old.

Later in the sit down, the 47-year-old former chief marketing officer of Netflix  admitted that she is committed to growing her family because she is 'not getting any younger.'

The raven-haired beauty already shares a 15-year-old daughter, Lael Saint John, with her late husband Peter Saint John.  

'Then on top of it, it's like, again, I'm not getting any younger. If I'm having these conversations with Keely,' she explained. 'And I truly believe that we have the opportunity to create a bigger family, then why not do it right now?

'With the fibroids, I have zero chance [at conceiving]. Also, I want a shot. I want a shot at it. So then I gotta choose to do it.'

When asked how many fibroids she had, the star confirmed 12 were removed from her uterus, saying that one 'was the size of a grapefruit.'

Her shocking revelation comes mere days after Bozoma revealed her Malibu home was devoured by the Pacific Palisades fire amid the wildfires ravaging Los Angeles

The executive-turned-reality star reportedly purchased the 2,501 square foot house for $5.2 million in 2021, according to Redfin and Traded. She lived in the home with her daughter Lael before it was lost in the flames.

'This is the house I wanted. The house I prayed for. The house I worked in blood, sweat and tears for,' she wrote in a heartbroken Instagram post Thursday.

'The house that I put a key pad instead of a key hole in the front door because I wanted all my family and friends to have a code and use the house whenever they wanted,' she added.

'This is the house where I found peace after battling with racist neighbors and a community that made me have to buy it in a trust within a trust so no one would know that widowed, single Black woman with a teenager was buying on the exclusively-held beach,' the star alleged. 'This was my EFF YOU I’m here house.'

She concluded her message: 'It is gone. This is an unimaginable loss. I grieve with the rest of Los Angeles as it burns… and even though I’ve found even words to write here, there’s nothing that I could say in this moment to describe this feeling. I ask for your prayer for Lael and I. God bless you.'

Among those impacted were several A-listers who lost their million-dollar mansion though most of the people affected by the fires are neither famous nor wealthy.

Paris Hilton, Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Miles Teller, Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore and Jen Atkin are among those whose homes have been destroyed by the rapidly advancing inferno.
