Over on Steam now, you can pick up a game that mashes Resident Evil and Red Dead Redemption together. Although the latter series already had a horror-themed DLC once upon a time, now we're getting a fully-fledged game.
Revealed on Steam and currently pending a release date, Hear Tell of Hauntings is coming from Two Stamp Studios at some point in the future. Taking place in Montana in 1897, you'll take control of an outlaw as you attempt to take on supernatural forces.
Here's the breakdown of Hear Tell of Hauntings: "Deep in the mountains of wild west-era Montana, former outlaw Adelaide Clancy ventures to the desolate remains of the Wraith estate in this third-person survival horror game."
The game is coming along nicely for an indie project, as the latest update showcased recent developments in the character models and the inventory system. It's been fully revamped since the last time we checked in and will include a 3D inventory system, with a physical case that Adelaide will carry around, similar to a modern Resident Evil protagonist.
There's a lot of Resident Evil DNA in Hear Tell of Hauntings, but this is one of the most direct inspirations. Since the aim is to make it feel organic and part of the game world, I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
The latest developer update hints that we'll see more of Hear Tell of Hauntings in the near future: "Of course, this is just a handful of the many things I'm working on. The unfortunate side of development is that I can't show off very much without risking spoiling my own game. However, rest assured that development has been steadily moving along behind the scenes. I'll probably be updating the Steam page screenshots to reflect the current state of the game at some point in the near future, so be on the lookout for that."
For now, you can check out the game on Steam and add it to your wishlist. Given the traction that Resident Evil still has, this is one to keep an eye on.
