Red Dead Redemption fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the rumored Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen remaster to drop, which is reportedly supposed to launch sometime this year, according to multiple inside sources. However, a new report suggests that RDR2 fans have even more to look forward to this year.

According to renowned leaker NateTheHate (via X), the Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen launch is still happening this year, with reports indicating that RDR2 will not only launch on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, but also for Nintendo Switch 2 (via Rockstar Intel). To date, Rockstar have not even confirmed that the RDR2 next-gen upgrade is in the works, so nearly all the related details remain speculative.

Is Red Dead Redemption 2 Coming To Nintendo Switch 2?

NateTheHate's supposed confirmation that Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen is dropping this year was in response to a thread discussing Nintendo Direct's recent showcase. The event saw the reveal of multiple exciting releases headed to the console, such as Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.

However, while fans were hopeful they'd see a surprise Rockstar announcement for games headed to Nintendo Switch and/or Switch 2, there were no major reveals from the studio. That said, an RDR2 next-gen port for Nintendo Switch 2 wouldn't be entirely unprecedented, with the recently released RDR1 next-gen upgrade being released on the console.

It's unclear when and if Rockstar actually intends to release the RDR2 next-gen upgrade this year, with some rumors suggesting it's a sure thing and others suggesting it could take until at least 2027, largely based on GTA 6's scheduled release in November.

While nothing has been officially confirmed so far, rumors suggest we are definitely going to see a Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen upgrade sometime in the coming months, and even if it takes as long as 2027 to release, it seems very likely a Nintendo Switch 2 version will be included.

Nintendo Switch 2 users will be very excited to get another Rockstar game on the console, especially when it's unlikely Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 for quite some time. Red Dead Redemption 1's next-gen upgrade for the Switch 2 was a massive success, so it'd be surprising if the RDR2 next-gen version wasn't ported as well.

Overall, while we likely won't know if Red Dead Redemption 2's next-gen port will actually make it to Nintendo Switch 2 until Rockstar make an official announcement on the project, it's definitely an exciting launch that players will want to keep an eye on.
