James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game of such immense scale and ambition that you could easily still be playing it today, having consistently played it since launch, and not seen everything that it has to offer.

Rockstar's Western epic needs no introduction to almost all of you, but if you are planning on giving it another go-round anytime soon, then there's a mod on the way that you should absolutely be aware of if you're a PC player.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Nuevo Paraiso - Forgotten Frontier is a hugely ambitious mod that brings the legendary titular section of the map from the original game into the sequel, and it makes a whole load of other changes beyond that.

Sadie Adler Take The Reigns

You may have already heard of the mod before, but it has technically been on ice for some time, with development recently resuming with a renewed vigor. In sharing a letter with eager fans about what happened, the developer explained exactly what this means for the project.

“Sadly the development of the mod was paused since mid-November, but im happy to announce that the project officially resumed at the beginning of this month with more energy, focus, and ambition than ever.

What's changed?

• Texturing work has been restarted across all the towns and peds.

• Almost all of the towns and his models have been redesigned from scratch to achieve a more realistic and decent style for not having AMV's or MLO's.

• The goal now is clear: that Mexico will not just be a stage, but will be a living country.

We're working to ensure the mod not only looks good, but also feels real. We want to reflect the oppression, despair, and social tension experienced by many Mexicans during that year. Not as mere decoration, but as environmental storytelling, so the players will understands why the Revolution began, and how that conflict gives meaning to the events of Red Dead Redemption 1.”

It's a hugely intriguing prospect and one that fans of the original Game will almost certainly want to get involved with right away. At the same time, they have also taken the huge decision to make Sadie Adler the protagonist this time around given that her character makes the most sense within the existing lore.

Red Dead Redemption 2: The Forgotten Frontier Sounds Awesome

Outside of the main narrative, the mod is a very ambitious attempt to add a ton of other features, including side quests, bounty hunters, Collector Missions, functional shops, and Treasure Hunts. As far as Red Dead Redemption 2 experiences go, it looks like an absolute doozy, and it’s well worth your time if you’re a fan of the base game.
