Reacher season 6 has officially been confirmed long before the premiere of season 5. While this is not the first time Prime Video has renewed two seasons of the same show at once, Reacher has achieved a rare feat on the streaming service. At this rate, Reacher is all set to achieve one massive feat on Prime Video and cement its legacy as one of the greatest modern action thrillers.

When Reacher was first announced on Prime Video, fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books were quite skeptical about how it would turn out. Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher movies had not exactly honored the source material, making it hard not to wonder if the show would tread the same path. Surprisingly, Reacher season 1 defied all expectations and became a massive hit.

In the years that followed, Reacher delivered one compelling season after another, rising in the ranks to become one of Amazon's most valuable TV IPs. As Reacher continues to grow from strength to strength in popularity, it is not surprising it has been renewed for two more installments after season 4. It is now on the right path to break several records on Prime Video.

Reacher Has Officially Become Prime Video’s Longest-Running Action Series

Prime Video is often touted as the best streaming service for "dad shows," and rightfully so. The streaming service is the home of many long-running and highly acclaimed action shows. In its wide and diverse catalog, The Boys is currently the longest action series with five seasons. Shows like Jack Ryan and The Legend of Vox Machine come second with four seasons.

Since Reacher has officially been renewed for two more seasons, it has broken The Boys' record. From the looks of it, if Reacher keeps performing so well on Prime Video, it might even become the streaming service's longest running show.

Interestingly, along with Reacher, Invincible, too, has been renewed for two more seasons after season 4. Owing to this, Reacher and Invincible are seemingly running parallel in terms of runtimes. However, it is hard not to see how Invincible, too, could eventually run out of stories to tell because of its more serialized format of storytelling.

Reacher, on the other hand, has a bulletproof formula where it almost unfolds as an anthology. Each new season adapts a new book and unfolds a whole new story for the titular character. Since Lee Child's Jack Reacher book series already has over 30 installments and will soon have even more additions, Prime Video's Reacher could go on forever.

Reacher Is Just 1 Season Away From Dethroning Bosch

 Legacy

When it specifically comes to crime thrillers, Reacher still has one season less than Bosch. Bosch lasted for seven seasons and was even followed up with a direct sequel, Bosch: Legacy, which lasted for three seasons. If Reacher gets renewed for one more season after its sixth installment, it will officially break Bosch's record.

However, since Bosch already has seven seasons, two spin-offs and one prequel in the works, it remains Prime Video's most expansive franchise. At its current momentum, Reacher does have the potential to match Bosch's "legacy." For now, though, Reacher remains relatively smaller as a franchise with only one additional spin-off.

Considering how both Bosch and Reacher have consistently delivered one incredible installment after another, it is hard not to hope that both will continue to grow as franchises.
