Prince Edward is breaking the royal family's silence on his brother's involvement in the Epstein Files.

After newly released emails continue to link the former Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, to Jeffrey Epstein, the Duke of Edinburgh is speaking out. While at the World Governments Summit in Dubai on Tuesday, February 3, Prince Edward told CNN journalist Eleni Giokos that amid all the shock and awe that has come with the newly dropped documents, "it’s really important to remember the victims" (via The Independent).

And who are the victims in all this? A lot of victims in all this.

Prince Edward, 61, is the first member of the royal family to share his thoughts about the Epstein Files, and while his brother continues to deny any wrongdoing, the latest files released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), reveal that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 65, had an alleged correspondence with Epstein that included sharing photos of his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, when they were younger.

Per the DOJ's report, Andrew appears to have sent the late Epstein his family Christmas cards from 2011 and 2012, both of which included photos of the girls, then in their 20s.

The pair's alleged correspondence came after Epstein was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution and soliciting prostitution in Florida in 2008. Epstein served 13 months in jail for the crimes. It also allegedly happened after Andrew claimed to have cut off all contact with Epstein in his now-viral 2019 interview with the BBC.

As for Edward's former sister-in-law's part in the newly released emails, the DOJ reports that among the new evidence was an alleged email reportedly sent from Ferguson to Epstein, which saw the former Duchess of York speaking about her daughter, Princess Eugenie, in an obscene way. When Epstein asked about a possible trip to New York, the mother-of-two allegedly replied, "Not sure yet. Just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!"

Per The Mirror, Eugenie, who was just two days away from her 20th birthday at the time of the email, was on a trip with then-boyfriend Jack Brooksbank, to celebrate the occasion. The crass back-and-forth wasn't the only email reportedly exchanged between Ferguson and Epstein, with the newly released documents also showing Fergie congratulating Epstein on having a baby boy in a 2011 email (via the BBC).

Don't know if you are still on this bbm [BlackBerry Messenger] but heard from The Duke that you have had a baby boy. Even though you never kept in touch, I still am here with love, friendship and congratualtions [sic] on your baby boy. Sarah xx.

Epstein's brother, Mark Epstein, told Business Insider meanwhile, that Epstein did not have any kids, adding, "If Jeff had a kid, I think I would have known."

In an alleged follow-up message, Ferguson appeared to share her frustrations with Epstein, accusing him of using her to get close to Andrew.

You have disappeared. I did not even know you were having a baby. It was sooooo crystal clear to me that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew. And that really hurt me deeeply. More than you will know.

ScreenRant has reached out to Ferguson's reps for comment.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 after he was accused of sexually abusing girls as young as 14 years old, and died by suicide one month later while awaiting trial on federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. Andrew, for his part, was stripped of his royal titles last fall over his relationship with Epstein. Ferguson also lost multiple patronage roles for her alleged ties to the disgraced financier.
