Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things BoschMission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

For a show that has built so much of its identity around intimacy, reflection, and long-form storytelling, The Chosen is about to hit a very different kind of stretch. Over the years, the series has steadily expanded its scope while still keeping its focus on the people around Jesus, their doubts, their loyalties, and the emotional weight of what they are witnessing. That balancing act has helped it stand apart from so many other faith-based projects, especially as its audience has grown around the world. But the road ahead sounds like it will ask more from the show than ever before. And according to creator Dallas Jenkins, Season 6 is heading into territory that viewers have not seen from the series before.

Jenkins recently said that the upcoming season will center heavily on the idea of surrender, a theme that fits with where the story is now heading. He added that the season will not only follow Jesus through that suffering, but also focus on the disciples as they struggle to make sense of it all. Speaking with Deseret News at ChosenCon in February, he explained:

“Season 6 is really a lot about surrender. We’re watching Jesus ultimately surrender to something that was extraordinarily painful. The disciples confused, broken, wondering, having to surrender. I think I’m hoping that the viewers come away from the season saying, 'Can you surrender even when you don’t always understand people?'”

What Will Season 6 of 'The Chosen' Involve?

That emotional framing gives a pretty clear sense of what this next chapter is aiming for. Season 6 will depictthe final 24 hoursin the life of Jesus Christ, covering Good Friday, including his arrest and crucifixion, as well as the growing panic and confusion among the disciples that ultimately causes them to scatter. It is, without question, one of the most intense and emotionally devastating stretches of the Biblical story, and it sounds like the show is leaning fully into that weight.

“Season 6 is the biggest season we’ve ever done without a close second; it’s taking the longest to film, by far,” he said. “The visual effects, the translations, especially, take at least two to three times longer than any season we’ve ever done.” He also stressed that the ambition of the season is part of why fans are having to wait longer than usual, saying, “The whole season is supersized. And so it just can take time. ... I just ask for your continued grace and patience. It will be worth it.”
