A popular novel that's similar to titles such as Fourth Wing is getting an adaptation.

It was recently revealed that Amazon MGM Studios will be adapting the best-selling fantasy book series Fourth Wing, written by Rebecca Yarros. Meredith Averill, known for Locke & Key and Wednesday, is attached as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Fallout's Lisa Joy is directing the first episode and will be executive producing alongside Michael B. Jordan, Jonathan Nolan, Athena Wickham, and Yarros. Now, another popular novel is getting the TV treatment.

Deadline has reported that the bestselling fantasy romance Crimson Moth by Kristen Ciccarelli will be adapted for television by Georgia Lee (known for The Expanse) and Joe Henderson (known for Lucifer). Kim Shumway, known for The 100, is currently penning the script for Crimson Moth's adaptation. At the time of writing, it was reported that the script was currently being shopped to potential buyers, with no studio officially attached.

Crimson Moth is a New York Times bestselling romantasy series with a dangerous cat-and-mouse romance between a secret witch vigilante and the elite witch hunter tasked with tracking her down. Book one, titled Heartless Hunter, was published in 2024, with the sequel, Rebel Witch, released in 2025, and initially served as the conclusion to the series. The novels gained major popularity across social media and on TikTok's dedicated book community, otherwise known as BookTok.

That wasn't the only good news for Ciccarelli and her fans, as Wednesday Books, a division of Macmillan Publishers, has acquired books three and four in the Crimson Moth series. Book three, Dark Descent, is scheduled to be published in August 2027.

Another major romantasy franchise, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, was initially going to get adapted by Hulu but was canceled after being in limbo for years. Maas recently spoke of the adaptation news and said it is paused, but has reacquired the rights to her work and is ensuring that the adaptation remains faithful at all costs. The author has reaffirmed she wants total creative control over any future film or series. However, she has said that she wants to finish the remaining novels in the series.

At the time of writing, the adaptation of Crimson Moth has yet to reveal an official release date or cast announcements, but fans are already fancasting their favorite picks.
