Polymarket US traded $2.72 billion in notional volume last week. In early January, that weekly figure was $60.8 million.
That is a jump of more than 44 times in under a year.
The numbers behind the climb
Notional volume measures the total face value of contracts that change hands, not the platform’s revenue or profit.
The week ending in early October 2026 came in at $2.72 billion. The single busiest day came on October 11, 2026, when daily volume peaked at $698.8 million.
The trailing 30-day total also exceeded $11.39 billion as of October 11. That suggests the October spike sits on top of a sustained run, rather than being a single freak weekend.
Another milestone landed in September 2026. That month, Polymarket US reported trading volume surpassing its international platform for the first time.
Football and parlays did the heavy lifting
The growth has largely been attributed to sports markets. NFL and NCAA football contracts in particular have drawn heavy interest as the season got underway.
Polymarket US introduced combo and parlay-style contracts in August 2026, and volume has grown rapidly since.
The broader sector felt the same tailwind. Polymarket and Kalshi combined set a two-day record of $8.56 billion in volume, and a record weekly figure of $22.2 billion was noted around October 11, 2026.
How Polymarket US got here
Polymarket US operates under the oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Its path to that status ran through an acquisition of QCEX, followed by a relaunch in late 2025.
Kalshi remains the dominant player in that segment. Even with a $2.72 billion week, Polymarket US is still chasing market share rather than defending it.
