Just in time for spooky season, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is going to be releasing some new items focused on a few of the most Halloween-friendly Pokémon there are. Whether looking for a fun gift for the colder months of spooky season or to add to your own collection, these surprise releases will be a must-own for any collector.
Of course, the Pokémon TCG regularly has fun releases to keep people on their toes, like the recent announcement of a stunning line of Mewtwo & Mew DNA Premium products. However, with so many dark and scary pocket monsters at their disposal, it's always fun to see what special tricks and treats we can discover each autumn. This year, it includes some special collections featuring cosmos holo variants of Gengar, Mimikyu, and more, plus a new Mini Portfolio launch.
On October 2, 2026, a new "Enhanced 2-Pack Blister" will be released for only $10.99 USD. In addition to having two booster packs, it will feature cosmos holo variants for Gengar, Team Rocket's Mimikyu, and Marshadow, plus a metallic coin.
Gengar is always a perfect choice for Halloween-themed decks, and this Dark-type Pokémon is a fan-favorite, with several very expensive cards to call its own in the Pokémon TCG. Adding a special version of Mimikyu and Marshadow to the mix only makes this pack more desirable, with plenty of Psychic and Dark energies to give a little suspense to the game.
The Pokémon Center isn't stopping there, however. Also releasing on October 2 is a new "Mini Portfolio" based on the Pokémon TCG: Pitch Black expansion. Like others in the "Mini Portfolio" product line, this small binder is designed to hold 60 cards and comes with one Pitch Black booster pack included to start filling it up. It is expected to retail for the low price of only $5.49 USD.
The artwork for the portfolio features Mega Greninja and Mega Zeraora on the front, with Mega Darkrai and Mega Chandelure on the back. Each of these was a prominent Pokémon for the Pitch Black set, despite the fact that this portfolio will be launching several months after that set's release.
In fact, between these items launching in October and the July release of Pitch Black, we will also be getting to experience the release of the Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration set on September 16. That anniversary-themed set will be a bit of a one-off, not included as part of the Mega Evolution line, though it also has the typical Elite Trainer Box, booster packs, and booster boxes, plus a plethora of unique celebratory merchandise for the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
