Pokémon is turning 30 this year, and that means collaborations with various companies will presumably be releasing throughout the year. While many of these releases are still rumors or conjecture, some are confirmed, like the Pokémon TCG's return to McDonald's Happy Meals next month. We also have a September release to look forward to.

A new Pokémon x Adidas collab is apparently coming in September 2026, although a specific release date has not been set and neither Adidas nor Pokémon has officially confirmed the collab yet. Various rumors regarding the new sneakers, as well as alleged leaked photos online suggest we'll be getting shoes of multiple Gen 1 fan-favorites from the Kanto region. And it's the perfect way to celebrate those Gen 1 games turning 30 this year.

Pokémon x Adidas Collab Sounds Great

ZX 8000, Superstar, and Samba OGs On The Way?

September 2026's Pokémon x Adidas launch sounds pretty great. Right now, it looks like we'll be getting a Mewtwo version of the ZX 8000, designed to look like the classic Gen 1 Legendary Pokémon. Superstar models of Pikachu, Charmander, and Charmeleon have also been rumored or leaked, and Mewtwo appears to be getting its own Samba OG shoe in addition to the ZX 8000.

While none of this is official quite yet, February's upcoming Pokémon Day seems like the perfect time to announce it, so fans will want to keep an eye on that date. Gen 10 game reveals and new TCG collections are also expected to be shown off at that time. If you're a Pokémon fan, mark your calendar for February 27, 2026.

More Pokémon Collabs Should Be Happening This Year

Brands Should Celebrate In Big Ways

The Pokémon collab with Adidas sounds fantastic, but it's unlikely to be the only collaboration we're getting this year. A 30th Anniversary is a pretty major milestone, after all. Besides, we also know McDonald's Happy Meals to celebrate Pokémon turning 30 are on the way right now. I'd also expect to see other clothing lines and brands beyond Adidas collaborating with Pokémon this year.

Even if this Adidas collab is all we get, though, it's still a pretty darn good one. The real challenge is going to be not buying one of each and apologizing to my wallet later. Here's hoping there's also a surprise shoe or two thrown in there. I'd adore some new Gengar or Lapras themed Adidas this year.

With the 30th Anniversary of the first-ever Pokémon games quickly approaching, more announcements feel guaranteed. Hopefully, we'll also see official images and release date information regarding the Pokémon x Adidas collaboration too.
