The "Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises" is Pokémon Pokopia's first Halloween event, and it adds a whole list of items that you can use to add a spooky touch to each region. Before you can get your hands on them, you will need to trick your Pokémon friends and get their treats.

If you want to celebrate Halloween in Pokémon style, we can help you by explaining how to complete the Pokémon Pokopia "Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises" event. In addition, you can also find the lists of all the rewards and habitats you get from it in this guide.

How to start the Pokémon Pokopia 'Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises' event

You can play trick-or-treat in Pokémon Pokopia's "Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises" event from Oct. 17 at 5 a.m. until Nov. 1 at 4:59 a.m. based on your Nintendo Switch's console time. This means that you can time travel to enjoy this event in case you miss it. And don't worry about prerequisites: anyone who has rebuilt at least one Pokémon Center can participate. You will need to learn the Camouflage ability from Zorua after progressing in the Bleak Beach questline in order to earn the event currency, too.

As soon as you boot up the game, you receive the usual message saying that "a Pokémon is the talk of the town." This indicates that you should head to the rebuilt Pokémon Center to find Pumpkaboo. Talk to it, and the pumpkin Pokémon will tell you that it can give you some items in exchange for pumpkin candies.

After this brief conversation, Pumpkaboo will become your friend. It's not the only Pokémon you can befriend during this event, though. By making one of the two new event habitats, you can also attract Gourgeist.

By entering the Pokémon Center, you can check and buy the event items from Pumpkaboo. In case you just want one or two items, remember that you can always obtain a copy of the furnishings by using the 3D printer.

How to get pumpkin candy in Pokémon Pokopia

When you meet Pumpkaboo, it explains that you must trick other Pokémon to receive pumpkin candies as a reward for scaring them. To startle other Pokémon, you need to use the Camouflage skill and turn Ditto into "one of their favorite things."

You can't just expect that any disguise will work with every Pokémon. Common items like a mushroom streetlight will work with Pokémon who like bright habitats, but disguising Ditto as really specific items, like a punching bag to trick Hitmonchan, is also an option. Keep in mind that you can't scare the same Pokémon twice.

Once you're close to another Pokémon, wait to see if they say something about the object you're disguised as. If they do, undo the transformation to scare them! Removing your disguise in front of a Pokémon who hasn't identified the object will not startle them. After catching their breath, the Pokémon will give you a few pumpkin candies. I got between one and three candies, but I can't say for sure whether the number of rewards is random or if specific factors determine them.

All Pokémon Pokopia 'Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises' event rewards

The "Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises" event is adding nine new furnishing items, and you will need a total of 20 pumpkin candies to purchase one copy of each. Since the number of candies you receive from each Pokémon seems random, you may need to scare from seven to 20 Pokémon.

If you just want the items you need to make the new habitats, focus on getting a candy bucket, a ghost smoke projector, a pumpkin lantern, a pumpkin lantern tower, and a Trevenant streelight. However, if you obtain all items from the event, you will receive the "Trick or Treat" photo frame.
