Many fans have already exhausted everything they can out of Hogwarts Legacy. It was a massive release, and there's only so much you can do with it before you get the Platinum trophy and clear 100% of what it has to offer. While folks are waiting for a sequel announcement (and hoping for multiplayer), there is something you can play now.
Over on the PSN, you can pick up a free game now that gives off Hogwarts Legacy vibes. The best part is that it's free, even if you aren't a PlayStation Plus subscriber.
This Free PlayStation Game Has Hogwarts Legacy Vibes
You Can Pick It Up Now
Released on consoles late last year, Wizard101 is now available for free on PSN (including PS4 and PS5). If you play it, you won't need a PlayStation Plus subscription, as the game is truly free on consoles.
Here's what Wizard101 is all about: "Unleash your inner magic and prepare to unravel the mysteries surrounding a death professor gone rogue. Darkness threatens to engulf the Spiral as you master powerful spells, explore over 22 whimsical worlds, and team-up with friends in this nostalgic wizard turn-based deckbuilding MMORPG."
In essence, you'll have to save Wizard City and the universe of The Spiral. Darkness is running rampant, and as a brand-new student, it's up to you to quickly school yourself and fight off the enemy threat. You'll need to choose elements and build up your spell deck, while you uncover the game world's mysteries through PVE and PVP game modes.
There are also limited-time events, cosmetics, and "cozy" elements like hatching and training pets, and a gardening mechanic. It's been around long enough on PC, so you can read plenty of impressions and see if it's your cup of tea. Right now, it's sitting at "very positive" reviews on Steam, with some reviews warning of a paywall once you've progressed through everything that's free.
You Don't Need PlayStation Plus For Wizard101
It's Truly Free
Years ago, Sony and Microsoft opted to make a lot of free-to-play games actually free, in the sense that you don't need Xbox Game Pass or a PS Plus subscription to play them. Wizard101 falls under that umbrella, and thank goodness, as it was ridiculous in some cases not to have parity with Steam releases, which are inherently free without an online subscription requirement.
If you're a PlayStation owner, whether you have a PS4 or PS5, you can check out Wizard101 for free now. You don't really have much to lose, especially since you don't need to pay anything if you're lapsed on your subscription.
