Ewan is Deputy Editor for ScreenRant's gaming section. He still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase, and knows more about The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who than is probably healthy.
Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.
Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.
PlayStation 5 gamers can get their hands on a bonus free download for March right now, and the best part is you don't need PlayStation Plus to access it.
March has been a busy month for gamers so far. Between the endless horror of Resident Evil Requiem, the cozy vibes of Pokopia, and the vast open world chaos of Crimson Desert, there's been something for everyone. But if you're looking for a gaming experience that won't cost you a penny, look no further.
PlayStation Gamers Can Grab This SEGA Freebie Now
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
SEGAQuite out of the blue, SEGA has released an extended free trial for 2025's Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage. The fighting game has also been released for Nintendo Switch 2 today, but that's not why we're here.
Here's everything included in the demo:
- • World Stage: Experience part of the new single-player mode where you'll fight CPU versions of real world players.
- • Arcade: Battle through 8 stages against CPU opponents.
- • Training: Get to you know your fighter's moves, mechanics and more.
There are also six playable characters in the demo: Jackie Bryant, Wolf Hawkfield, Eileen, Pai Chan, Goh Hinogami, and Jean Kujo. SEGA notes that any progress made in the demo doesn't actually carry over to the full game, so just be aware of that.
PlayStation Has Tons Of Freebies You Don't Need PS Plus For
Dive in and see what's there
It's worth noting that PlayStation has loads of free games you don't actually need PlayStation Plus for, and not just demos and trials. Why, earlier this month it was confirmed that the upcoming free-to-play cozy sim Aniimo is headed to PS5. There's also the recently released Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, and a whole stack of older free games like Fortnite, Once Human, Where Winds Meet, and Marvel Rivals.
In other words, you'll find that PlayStation Plus is for suckers. Or, you know, people that want to access online multiplayer in games and a monthly library of other classic AAA and indie titles. But if you are gaming on a budget, there's always something to play that won't cost you a penny. Remember that!
