PlayStation has just dropped a major free download for a 2026 release, announced during the latest State of Play, and it’s available right now for all who want to check it out, no strings attached. The special event has been a stage for several major announcements, including the first gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine. PlayStation’s State of Play in June also included gameplay for Kemuri, a deeper look into Phantom Blade Zero, and more.

Musashi holds a sword in Onimusha Way of the Sword key art.

The freebie in question is a demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Because the game will not be released for the previous generation, it will be playable only on PS5. According to PlayStation, the demo for the upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword is going to last about 30 minutes, depending on how you tackle it. Within the demo, you’ll be able to check out several gameplay mechanics and techniques, the different weapons you can use, and more.

The progress through the demo will not carry over into the final version of the game. However, Sony did announce that if you have a saved demo file when you play the complete game Onimusha: Way of the Sword, you’ll be rewarded with an exclusive Kubi Akari Amulet, which will give Musashi an unspecified special effect. This is, seemingly, the only way to obtain this item.
