EXCLUSIVE: Mia Threapleton is the latest actor join the ensemble cast of Damien Chazelle‘s new untitled drama starring Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig. Michelle Williams also recently joined with Chazelle writing and directing. Chazelle will also produce alongside Olivia Hamilton under their Wild Chickens Productions banner. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film.

While unconfirmed, insiders say the film will be set in a prison.

Production is expected to start later this year. Following the success of films like Whiplash and La La Land, the Oscar-winning director has not had troubled attracting top tier talent like Craig, Murphy and Williams to star in his upcoming features. He also appreciates taking the time to audition actors for particular roles that he finds to be especially important to the story like Diego Calva in Babylon and insiders say Chazelle took his time with the audition process for the role Threapleton would ultimately land.

Threapleton is coming off her scene-stealing role opposite Benicio del Toro in Wes Anderson’s most recent pic The Phoenician Scheme. On the TV side, she still stars in the Apple TV series The Buccaneers, which just finished its second season on the streamer.

She is repped by CAA in the US and Markham Froggatt & Irwin in the UK.
