Marvel's Wolverine recently committed to a September 2026 release, so it's logical to expect developer Insomniac Games to rev up work on its next project soon. The common assumption was that Spider-Man 3 would come next, and a seemingly innocent post from one of the series' leads might have confirmed its existence.
Ben Jordan started playing Peter Parker, who's voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, in the Miles Morales spinoff and the PS5 (and later PC) refresh of the first game, fully embracing the big facial capture role later in 2023's Spider-Man 2. If a threequel is ramping up development soon, it's safe to assume he'll be involved in the coming months.
On 14th April, gaming and entertainment sites picked up on an Instagram post by the face model. The post has been deleted, but a photo showed him fully prepared to do some facial capture work, and the text cheekily said "IYKYK" (that is, 'if you know, you know' for our non internet acronym-knowing friends) alongside an emoji of a spider. I mean, teases don't get any clearer than that.
Though it's all but confirmed that this capture session had something to do with Spidey, it's not necessarily an indication that work on Spider-Man 3 is already underway. If Insomniac's Wolverine game takes place in the same universe as its Spider-Man games, the chances of a Peter Parker cameo aren't exactly nil. Moreover, the leaked roadmap that was floating around a few years ago suggested Insomniac at least toyed with the idea of doing a Venom spinoff before Spider-Man 3. That project's survival seems unlikely at this point, but never say never.
For now, Insomniac's Marvel universe efforts will continue with the more mature Wolverine game, which is launching exclusively on PS5 on 15th September.
