Penn Badgley's wife Domino Kirke shared a video firing back at fans who blame her for his decision to stop filming sex scenes on Monday.

Domino, 42, said she is proud of the You actor for deciding to do that for himself, saying it was his own decision, made for his 'mental health and relational hygiene.'

She urged his followers, who are still sliding into her DMs to 'get over it'.

Penn, 39, revealed back in 2023 that he asked for 'no more intimacy scenes' on You out of concern that he’d always be cast as 'a romantic lead.'

And Domino said: 'So I continue to get DMs about this thing that happened about three years ago.

'It's really major in his industry because that’s the thing they like you to do, and the characters that my husband has played over the years, people have come to expect that he will continue to play that guy.

Domino shared a long post alongside her video on Instagram

'When he decided he didn’t want to do this anymore, I was super happy for him, very proud of him because I understood how major it was.

'And yeah, it’s just relational hygiene, and I practiced this, I strive to practice this in my career as a doula,' she explained.

'I am not just Penn Badgley’s wife — I also do things like support people in making these kinds of decisions for themselves and their careers.'

She also wrote a long accompanying caption which read: 'A few years ago, the internet decided I’d asked my husband to stop doing sex scenes. The truth is, my husband decided to do this for his own mental health reason.

'After working in the industry since he was just 12 years old, believe me, it was time. In the entertainment world, they call actors “puppets” behind their backs, and it’s even more disturbing when they start out as child actors.

'Hi, I’m Domino, and I’ve been a birth professional for 17 years. In my work I see a LOT of similar patterns to those in the entertainment world. Caregivers are so ready to be invisible, collapse, disappear, or take direction no matter what.

'They’re constantly allowing folks to blaze past their boundaries all in the spirit of being accommodating or in my husband’s case, entertaining.

'They’re ok with being forgettable. Sometimes I ask people what their doula's name was and they’re like “oh I don’t remember!”

The singer and doula married Penn in 2017. They share three biological sons together and Penn is a stepfather to Domino's son from a previous relationship

She said: 'It’s wild how rarely we talk about relational hygiene and mental health for the people in the caregiving world AND the entertainment world'

'So finally, after years of trying, Penn decided to take a stand and let the world see him. And guess what, he hasn’t lost fans and he’s still getting hired!'

She continued: 'It’s wild how rarely we talk about relational hygiene and mental health for the people in the caregiving world AND the entertainment world.

'Entertainers, birth professionals, and caregivers bleed to create so much for others, and then they’re expected to go home and show up for their own lives and families as though nothing happened.

'I spent 17 years on call as a birth doula. I wasn’t sleeping, I was getting sick all the time, and I had almost no capacity to be with my kids, or show up in my own life. I was on autopilot. I was performing.

'The people who care for everyone else (and artists) are the people we most need to protect.

'I've created a container for caregivers with these people-pleasing tendencies and strategies. I can teach you how to hold the line and fall in love with your work again without it costing you everything.

'I have just 3 spots left for my next virtual cohort starting Oct 6th for 9 weeks. Comment CAREGIVER and I’ll send you over the link. #getoverit.'
