Audiences might be waiting a while to see Cillian Murphy in the third installment of the 28 Years Later trilogy, but they can watch him run riot in the Peaky Blinders universe once again in a few days' time, when Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man debuts on Netflix. However, fans in the United Kingdom already have access to the movie, thanks to a limited theatrical run in which it is reportedly doing blockbuster business at the box office. The Immortal Man serves as a follow-up to Peaky Blinders, the period gangster drama that became a word-of-mouth sensation after being licensed to Netflix. It aired 36 episodes across six seasons, from 2013 to 2022. One year after the show's conclusion, Murphy won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, considerably increasing his profile.
For him to return to a streaming spin-off speaks volumes about Netflix's pull. The Immortal Man will also bring back several actors who've appeared on the show over the past decade, such as Stephen Graham, alongside a host of new additions to the cast, like Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan. The show also featured stars such as Tom Hardy and Adrien Brody over the course of its run, as it grew in scope with each passing season. The Immortal Man will serve as a lead-in to a spin-off series set in the 1950s, also written by the show's creator, Steven Knight. The appetite is still there for more Peaky Blinders, as box-office reports from the U.K. suggest.

Here's How Much 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man' Grossed at the Box Office
Netflix doesn't share box-office details, but a report has compiled third-party data and offered an estimate about just how well the movie has performed theatrically. In its first weekend of release in independent U.K. theaters — remember, major chains refuse to play Netflix content because the streamer doesn't adhere to traditional theatrical windows — The Immortal Man grossed more than $1.5 million. It did so while playing in a fraction of the locations compared to major movies such as The Bride!, Scream 7, and Wuthering Heights, each of which it outperformed. The report cites a veteran industry source as saying that the movie could have grossed around $35 million in the U.K. alone had it been given a proper theatrical release.
The Immortal Man is gearing up for a massive debut on Netflix on March 20, armed with a "Certified Fresh" 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
