Patsy Kensit says she is rebuilding her life 'from scratch' and vows 'I'm a survivor' after suffering financial ruin

Patsy Kensit says she is rebuilding her life 'from scratch' after losing everything when a financial investment went wrong ten years ago.

The actress, 58, who recently announced she was returning to Emmerdale after 20 years, revealed she lost her home but has learned valuable lessons from her financial ruin.

Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Patsy said: 'I don't know if it's relatable to anyone but I had my pensions and everything and I was very vigilant about all of that.'

'Then I entered into a corporate thing and I lost, this is 10 years ago, I lost everything. Lost my home. And so I'm having to start from scratch.'

Patsy, who was married to Liam Gallagher in the late nineties, admitted 'it was hard but I'm a survivor, I always have been.' She added that she is taking on 'a mammoth' amount of work recently. 

'You just take each day at a time and I do that with regards to my work and the mammoth amount of scripts that I'm learning. I try to just keep it in the day. Tomorrow, who knows?'

Patsy previously revealed that a skincare company she was going into business with collapsed overnight.

'It all fell through, and I lost everything,' she told Hello! in 2024. 'There was financial backing and then the CEO had a stroke.'

'I have always owned houses but I had to sell my home and totally start again. It was brutal, particularly because I have worked so hard and then suddenly I was like: "Who am I?"' 

During a 2025 appearance on Hello!'s Second Act podcast, Patsy explained how she had recently embraced 'budgeting' after years of hiding from her finances. 

'I write down [everything] ... I used to just stick my head in the sand ... I've had some terrible sleepless nights but it's what I've learnt,' she said. 

'And the amount that I was spending on things when you really go through stuff. All I can say from my stance is I'm really fortunate.'

Patsy's next major acting role is her return to Emmerdale after 20 years, reprising her role as villain Sadie King.

The actress starred in the long-running ITV soap for two years from 2004 to 2006 – and is returning as part of an 'explosive' new storyline that is 'guaranteed to shock'. 

'It's a lot of dialogue, a lot of learning, which is really good actually at my age,' she told Begin Again.

'Being 58, just that memory muscle and knowing that you can still grab the lines and remember them and also then work on your performance.'

Patsy gushed that everyone on set 'has been so gorgeous to me. To go back and then have cast members that have stayed on the show or had left and then gone back, just to see them again.

'There's the real truth about the Yorkshire welcome and that is something that I've had in spades going back on the show and I was nervous, very, very, very nervous about it.'

It was reported earlier this month that some of the Emmerdale cast are quietly fuming that cash-strapped ITV has forked out to get Patsy back at the same time they have axed cast members.

ITV has been hit by widespread cuts in recent months, as a result of several factors including changing viewer habits, which have resulted in a shift towards streaming services.
