Patrick Mahomes Clarifies Celebratory Message Amid Travis Kelce Retirement Rumors
Life on the field has been magic, madness, heaven, sin for Patrick Mahomes.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback recently reflected on his favorite part about playing for the NFL team—and his answer will enchant Taylor Swift’s fans.
"It would be to play at Arrowhead Stadium and just have all the fans and Chiefs Kingdom out there,” Patrick said while speaking at local Kansas City event Lead to Read KC April 2, as seen in a clip shared to X. “That's a lot of fun.”
But then the 30-year-old remembered the love story of his teammate and bestie Travis Kelce and added, “I got to meet Taylor Swift, that was pretty cool too."
Of course, Patrick didn’t just get to meet the Grammy winner: He and his wife Brittany Mahomes have become quite close with her, even learning about her latest album Life of a Showgirl before the rest of the world.
"They called me after the podcast was done," Patrick said at a press conference in August, referencing Travis’ New Heights podcast where Taylor revealed the album. "They didn't call me, they called Brittany, and I was in the back of the FaceTime."
And because of the quarterback’s close bond with the “Karma” singer—they even went on a double date to the U.S. Open in 2024—he noted he was looking forward to listening to TS12.
"I'm obviously super excited," he continued. "Just knowing Taylor and seeing the process from just a little bit closer of how she makes the albums, it's going to be amazing because of how much work she puts into it."

But just because Patrick—dad to kids Sterling, 5, Bronze, 3, and Golden, 14 months, with Brittany—is living his wildest dreams as Taylor’s friend now doesn’t mean he wasn’t skeptical about how honest Travis was when he first said he was dating the musician.
“He told me during the week,” he said on the ESPN docuseries The Kingdom in August. “It was one of those where I gotta see it until I believe it.”
However, once Taylor attended her first game at Arrowhead Stadium that September, Patrick was convinced.
“You definitely felt the buzz,” he continued, “and you could see people in the stadium gravitating towards where she was up there.”
