PSG has positioned itself at the front of the queue for AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, with the French giants making the 24-year-old winger their top attacking target for the summer window. Two Premier League clubs are also in the mix, but the Parisian club appears to hold the advantage in what’s shaping up to be one of the most closely watched transfers of the window.
Monaco expects formal bids to arrive soon. And given what Akliouche himself has said publicly, those bids will likely find a willing participant on the other side of the negotiation table.
The player has already telegraphed his exit
In June, Akliouche confirmed he anticipates leaving Monaco after France’s World Cup campaign wraps up. He was diplomatic about it, framing the tournament as his immediate priority, but the subtext was unmistakable. He’s ready to move on.
Born on February 25, 2002, Akliouche has been with Monaco since 2022 and still has two years remaining on a contract that runs through June 2028. That contractual runway gives Monaco meaningful leverage in negotiations, which is exactly why their asking price sits well above his listed market value.
Transfermarkt pegs Akliouche’s value at roughly €50 million. Monaco, however, has a different number in mind. The club’s reported valuation falls in the €60 million to €70 million range, a premium that reflects both his remaining contract length and the competitive tension between multiple suitors.
PSG’s strategic play
PSG’s sporting director has reportedly already met with Akliouche’s representatives, signaling how seriously the club is treating this pursuit.
The right winger and attacking midfielder offers versatility across the front line. Signing a proven Ligue 1 talent also carries less adaptation risk than importing from abroad.
Premier League clubs lurk in the background
Liverpool, Tottenham, and Manchester City have all been monitoring Akliouche’s situation, with at least some of these clubs reportedly in direct contact regarding a potential move.
That said, no formal bids have been lodged by any party as of late June. The market remains in that peculiar holding pattern where everyone knows a deal is coming but no one wants to be the first to show their hand at below the asking price.
For Monaco, the ideal scenario is straightforward: let PSG and the Premier League clubs drive each other’s offers upward until someone hits that €70 million ceiling. The club has signaled its receptiveness to selling, which means this isn’t a situation where the buying club needs to convince a reluctant seller. It just needs to meet the number.
A €60-70 million fee for a player valued at €50 million by independent trackers represents a 20-40% premium.
Akliouche has made clear he won’t be making any definitive moves until after the tournament, which means the actual transfer could drag into the later stages of the window.
