Now, Paradise creator and showrunner Dan Fogelman has shared an image on his Instagram account of filming a scene featuring Wood and Benoist. They appear to be in space and the caption reads "S3. You have no idea where this is going." Krys Marshall, who plays Nicole Robinson, jokingly commented, "Dan can’t keep a secret to save his life!" Check out the image below:
In season 2, Paradise leaned more fully into the science-fiction genre by introducing Alex, which is an artificially intelligent quantum computer that Samantha "Sinatra" Redmond (Julianne Nicholson) believes can save the world. There are implications of time travel or the multiverse related to Alex, and when Sinatra stays behind to close the bunker doors and contain the explosion from the meltdown, she entrusts Xavier with the mission of finding the computer that is located in a bunker underneath the Denver airport.
Based on the image and caption Fogelman posted, Alex may only be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the more extreme science-fiction elements in Paradise season 3. Going to space has the potential to take the story in a whole other direction and is something that the series has not touched on yet. Space travel could tie into Earth's recovery after the apocalyptic event or to Alex, but regardless, it will need to be fully addressed as this is confirmed to be the final season.
Wood and Benoist join ER and The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies, who was previously announced to be the first new addition to the Paradise cast. Margulies is reportedly playing a recurring role, although any other details are under wraps. Beyond what Fogelman shared on his Instagram, nothing else is known about Wood and Benoist's new characters either.
Along with his upcoming role in Paradise season 3, Wood is confirmed to be reprising his iconic role as Frodo Baggins for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. He is also expected to return as Walter Tattersall in the popular series Yellowjackets, and earlier in 2026, he played an important part in the movie sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. As for Benoist, she is best known for playing the titular character in Supergirl and more recently was a series regular in Netflix's The Waterfront.
Beyond Xavier and Robinson, other surviving characters returning for Paradise season 3 include Link/Dylan (Thomas Doherty), Teri Rogers-Collins (Enuka Okuma), Presley Collins (Aliyah Mastin), James Collins (Percy Daggs IV), Dr. Gabriela Torabi (Sarah Shahi), and Jeremy Bradford (Charlie Evans). Between the show's penchant for flashbacks and sci-fi twists connected to Alex, Cal and Sinatra will likely be back as well.
All Paradise seasons 1-2 episodes are streaming on Hulu.
